Chapter 59: Something New

Several Months later

Sayuri's POV: 

I was at the hospital working, it was a fairly normal day with nothing out of the ordinary. However I couldn't help but feel exhausted and the day was hardly halfway through. I brushed it off as overexertion and moved on to my next patient. I was excited because Lee was coming back from a mission today. I always felt so lonely when we were apart. 

As I was making my way down the corridor to my patient, I suddenly felt dizzy. I leaned against the wall for support. The room seemed to be spinning and my head ached terribly. About that time Shizune was coming down the hall and upon seeing me ran to my side.

"Sayuri, are you okay? You look pale."

I tried to answer but the words wouldn't come, that was the last thing I remember before fainting. 

Rock Lee's POV: 

I was returning to the village from a mission with Tenten, Ino and Choji. I was excited, I had been away from my darling Sayuri for a week and I couldn't wait to see her. As we entered the village gates I saw Sakura running up to us. 

Sakura: "Lee! It's Sayuri, something happened at the hospital! She needs you."

My heart dropped, without so much as a goodbye or thank you I took off. My wife needed me and I intended to be by her side. I quickly made it to the hospital and was directed to her room. I ran to her and entering the room I could see she was pale and tired looking. I went to her side and held her hand, she smiled up at me. 

"Lee, your'e back, i'm so happy. I'm sorry this isn't much of a homecoming."

"Don't be silly darling, I don't need a fancy homecoming when I have you. How are you feeling? What happened?"

"I guess I overexerted myself and I fainted. Nothing serious."

At that moment Lady Tsunade and Shizune walked into the room beaming with smiles. How could they look so happy when my wife felt so sick? I spoke up

"Is everything okay? Will Sayuri be alright?"

Lady Tsunade: "Oh of course she will be,  but she may be sick for awhile longer I'm afraid."

Lee: "What's wrong with her?"

Shizune: "Nothing  is wrong per say, these symptoms are to be expected."

Lee: "How could this be expected? What are you talking about?"

Lady Tsunade: "Allow me to put it this way Lee, your'e going to be a father and Sayuri is going to be a mother." 

Sayuri and I looked at each other, tears were streaming down her face and she was smiling her beautiful smile. I was going to be a father, that explained why she fainted. I couldn't help but cry myself and hold her close to me. 

Shortly after Sayuri was released from the hospital and told to take it easy. Easy wasn't in her vocabulary so getting her to rest was difficult. So to keep her mind off of it, we began planning how to tell everyone starting with Guy Sensei and Kakashi Sensei.  

Sayuri had always been talented at sewing, crocheting and knitting, so she got to work on making things for the baby. Including a pair of orange leg warmers like we both wore, that was how we would tell Guy sensei. Kakashi was a bit more difficult but we finally figured out how to tell him. He and Sayuri loved to train together and she would tell him during training. As for our friends, we would invite them out to eat and tell them all at once. 

I was happier than I had ever been and the idea of teaching a new generation of my own filled me with joy and anticipation. That night I slept with Sayuri in my arms as always, but with my hand gently laid over her stomach as if to hold the baby and protect it.
