I walked inside the school, shivering from the snowy weather. Paul followed me complaining that I wouldn't let him give me his jacket. "Paul , for the last time, it would look very suspicious for you to walk in freezing weather without a jacket." I replied sweetly. He rolled his eyes and held my hand as we walked to my locker. "So............" he began as I gathered my books. I looked at him skeptically "yes?" He sighed nervously "You know how we have that big senior night game Friday night?" I smiled "Yes, I'll be there front and center." He laughed "Well my Dad is coming, and he wants to have a party for my team and everyone at my house afterwards." I could feel the color drain from my face a little. "So that means...." He nodded "He wants you and your parents to come."
Paul POV
The rest of the day, every time I saw Jo she would talk about what she was going to wear Friday and how she should do her hair, and came up with all the reasons things could go wrong with her and her parents meeting my father. I found it cute that she was nervous, but to be honest I was also. My dad never met any of the girls I would 'date' because I was never serious with them. He had called me last night asking why he hadn't heard of me getting into trouble or anything for a while and was just checking up on me. Long story short I told him about Josephine and he insisted on meeting the girl that made me change my ways. Before I could protest he was calling coach Jennings and planning an after game party for Friday. My dad was always busy with work, and I had grown so accustomed to the "long distance relationship". It was really odd for him to be so involved in my life, other than lecturing me about being in trouble. After basketball practice I went home and did my homework. I found myself being constantly distracted, thinking back to when my mother was alive, and how things were so different back then. I wished Josephine could have met her; My mother would have loved her. Speak of the angel, Josephine was calling me. "Hello beautiful, what are you up to." She started talking so fast I could barely hear what she was saying. "Josephine hold up babe! Slow down." I her sigh heavily. "I told my parents about Friday and my mother wants to take me shopping for a new outfit. I don't really want to go, but I need an new outfit. Should I bring any food?" I laughed "Josephine Call, you need to calm down. He is going to love you no matter what. You are perfect."
Friday:
Jo POV
I watched intently, sitting on the first bleacher. The wolves, the reservation's mascot, were down by 1 point with 15 seconds. Coach Jennings had called a time out. The refs blew their whistles signaling end of time out and I cheered loud for Paul. He was team Captain, and completely dedicated to the game. The next 15 seconds were the longest of my life. With 3 seconds to spare, Paul scored a 3 pointer, and the bleachers erupted with cheers and jumping fans. The team ran into a circle cheering, high-fiving, hugging, you name it. I hugged Kim, Jared's girlfriend. I was super excited for them. Paul caught sight of me and ran to my side. He picked me up spinning me around while putting a kiss to my lips. Perfect bliss.
