"See I told you it wouldn't be so bad!" It took everything I had to get myself up and looking somewhat decent. Janessa was dragging me to 'happy hour' with a few of her friends. I had the strong notion to refuse but I was way too exhausted and weak to put up a fight. She kept me to my promise. She even did my hair and makeup. It didn't really help though. I was much to thin, a total difference from a few months ago. Not to mention that no amount of concealer could completely  cover up the bags under my eyes. She spotted our table and rushed me over to meet these people. She immediately poured two glasses of whatever drink was sitting in a pitcher on the table and set one in front of me. I took a sip out of politeness and took my seat. "So everyone this is Josephine Call. Jo this is Kenneth, Laynie, Kylie, and Paul." I looked up at the sound of the name and my eyes landed on a guy very similar to him. He was tall and muscular with jet black hair and a pointed nose. Only differences were he was pale and had blue eyes. He smiled at me and I returned it with mine trying to to be rude. I waved at the rest and said a small Hi. They all began talking about different things, jobs and such. I nodded noticed this Paul looking at me from my peripheral view several times which set me on edge. "So Jo....." he spoke up finally talking across the table and causing all other conversation to go silent. I looked him in the eye directly waiting for him to finish his thought. "Where are you from?" I felt a pain in my heart. "Well I was born here, but I lived in Washington for a while." Kylie's eyes lit up. "Oh I'm actually from Seattle! Where in Washington did you live?" I could feel the pain hit my chest again. "Ummmm I lived in La Push on the reservation." Paul seemed intrigued. "Is that so? I've always wanted to go to Washington." Kenneth laughed mockingly. "Yeah right Paul, the rain might mess up your hair pretty boy." Paul playfully pushed Kenneth in response and they both laughed. I found myself intrigued on how much of a similar stature and such this guy had to my Paul. I must have been staring because Janessa nudged me. "Well Jo maybe if we all take a trip to Seattle you and Kylie can show us all around." I caught on to her motive for saying this and tried to deter her but she continued "After all Paul did say he wants to go visit." Paul smirked "Nothing would be better to explore a new place than to have a pretty guide too." I could feel my cheeks beating up as I was embarrassed about Janessa putting me on the spot.
The night went on and I decided to take a step onto the patio of the bar. I needed some fresh air. I looked up at the sky, being aware of the very few stars a person could see from the city view. "I bet the sky view from this La Push place was a lot better than here huh?" A voice said behind me startling me. Paul stood with his hands in his pockets and shoulders shrugged. "Oh sorry didn't mean to scare you." I softened my stance "Oh it's ok. And yes it was a lot prettier." It was weird that he mentioned that after what I was thinking. Strange coincidence. He came to stand at my side. "So can I ask you a question?" He stayed after a period of silence. I nodded skeptically. "You seem a little zoned out and down. Did you leave La Push for a reason?" I felt the pain again and leant up against the brick half wall. "Uh I mean kind of. It's really complicated. But I'm a sense I left because I felt it was the best thing to do." He nodded "Well I won't pry. I just hate to see such a pretty woman so down. Not to mention from what I've been told and everything, you seem like a genuinely nice person also." I smiled at him. "Thank you."
"What in the hell are you doing?!" Someone said behind us. I turned and gasped. There stood Embry. He looked mad and sad all in one. "Do you know this guy." Paul stated looking Embry up and down defensively. "Em how did you find me?" Embry looked to this guy and back to me. "Todd gave us a few leads on who you might have gone to stay with. We've been looking for you for two weeks now." I was frantic. That meant Paul, my Paul, wouldn't be too far behind. I couldn't see him. I just couldn't. I looked to this new Paul hopeful. "Can you please get me out of here?" He nodded leading me away. "Jo you need to come back home!" Embry tried to take a step toward me. "No! You don't understand Embry I'm bad for him. I'm no good now just leave!" Embry stayed put as his face held shock. I felt myself begin to cry as Paul opened the passenger door of his car and I slipped in. 15 minutes later we were parked in front of a townhouse. "I figured you didn't want to go home so I brought you to my place. Is that ok or would you rather go somewhere else?" I looked at him and then the house. He seemed genuine and I certainly wasn't going back to Janessa's. "I don't want to go home. You sure I'm not imposing?" He chuckled "Not at all. I'll let you take my bed and I'll just sleep on my sofa." He climbed out of the car and I followed. "I can just sleep on your couch. I wouldn't want to kick you out of your bed." He shrugged "Nah you aren't. I barely sleep in my bed." Following him in we were greeted by a big Labrador. "Hey Henry bud how are you." He said in a baby talk to voice to the yellow lab. The dog noticed me and ran to greet me. I laughed and knelt down to its level petting it and earning a kick on the arm. "That's so funny he usually doesn't warm up to strangers that quickly." I chuckled "you could say I'm kind of the a dog whisperer."
I walked around his room looking at all the pictures. He seemed to be a traveler. "Well here is a T-shirt and some gym shorts since I figured it might now be too comfortable sleeping in a dress." I smiled and gladly took the clothes. He went to exit the room but I called out to stop him. "Hey Paul?" He peaked his head back in the door. "Thank you very much for letting me stay and everything. I know I must seem crazy, but I am very grateful." He smiled and nodded "No problem Jo. Goodnight." With that he closed the door and I laid down in bed. I was so tired and instantly drifted to sleep.

Paul POV
"What?! She just left just like that?! What did she say?" Jared said in the passenger seat of my truck. We were parked out side of the apartment building where Jo was thought to possibility be staying. This was he last person in the list of people Todd had given us and my nerves were shattered. I watched as Jared's expression changed from angry to upset. "Well where exactly does this guy live?"  I could hear Embry yelling on the other end of the phone. "Ok we will meet you there."
I looked to Jared expectantly. He sighed heavily. "Don't freak out Paul, but Embry just happened to be passing by a bar and saw her outside. He went to go confront her and she was talking to some guy and she left with him. He's inside trying to find her friend she's been staying with to find out where they went." I started the truck and sped off. "Where the hell is this bar Jared." He pulled up his navigation. Longest 15 minutes of my life. We pulled up finally and I ran inside.
