Paul POV
I looked around frantically for Embry. When I caught sight of him, I saw him talking to a small group of people sitting in the the way back of the bar. As I approached, the guy in the group looked at me skeptically. "Where is Josephine?!" I demanded. My patience was gone and I wanted answers now. The girls looked scared and Embry put his hand on
my shoulder trying to calm me. "I told him I can't tell you. I don't know who you are and why you are looking for her." She stuttered her words and I felt somewhat bad for her. "Listen....." I stayed calmly. "Her parents are worried about her. She left without telling anyone because she's scared about her situation but we are her family and she needs us right now. Her health is in danger so I really need to see her please." She looked to Embry, then to her friends and then back to me. "I swear if you hurt her I will make sure you rot in jail the rest of your life. My father is a damn good lawyer." I nodded. She sighed almost as if she was regretting telling me. "She's with my friend Paul Larrew. He lives in the Kerney Townhouses, number 3 on 11th. He's a really nice guy and probably just wanted to make sure she was safe. Please don't hurt him." Without responding I took off to their door. Embry at my heels. "What did they say?!" Jared asked as we got closer to my truck. "Get in we got the address." Embry responded climbing and then we sped off.Jo POV
I woke up abruptly from my sleep hearing a knock on the front door. I got up quietly cracking the door open to check. Paul had gotten up to check and he motioned for me to stay put. I stayed standing right outside the room. "Who is it" he called peaking through the 'peephole' on the door. "My name is Paul Lahote. I need to talk to Josephine." The new Paul looked at me and I shook my head 'no'. "Uh I think you have the wrong place dude. No Josephine lives here." I walked forward a bit to hear better. There was a moment of silence before he spoke again. "Jo it's Paul. I really need you to come back home. We can fix this. I'm so so so sorry I left you all alone those three days you didn't deserve that. Emily told me what you said to her and I want you to know you aren't a burden. You are far from that baby girl. You are my absolute everything and I can't live without you. I don't want to live without you. Pleas can we just at least talk?" New Paul looked to me and mouthed "Do you want me to call the cops?" I sighed and shook my head 'no' again. I walked to the door and whispered to new Paul. "Is it ok if I let them in?" He looked worried. "Are they going to hurt you? I know I seem big but I don't think I could take on all three of them." I semi chuckled "No I don't think they would hurt me or you. I'm just afraid of confronting them after I left." He nodded. "Alright, but I'm staying out here with you until I make sure you're going to be ok." I smiled and touched his arm briefly. "Thank you." I backed away and let him open the door. I kept my gaze averted. "You guys can come in but if you try anything at all I'm calling the police." I looked past him and could see Jared trying to keep from laughing. I knew this Paul couldn't be any match for my family, and all three guys knew that. New Paul ushered them in and I remained behind him, so afraid to look my Paul in the eyes. "Josephine." I heard him say and I finally looked up. I could immediately feel my heart get stronger and I didn't feel so worn out. He was smiling and I could see his eyes become tears slightly. New Paul looked to me and I nodded at him. "Okay I'll just be right there in my room if you need me Jo." I nodded and he took my hand and squeezed before disappearing behind the door. I could see a look of jealousy in Paul's eyes. "Please just ease my mind and tell me nothing has been going on with this guy." Embry spoke out loud. I rolled my eyes "No Em, I literally just met him tonight. He was just being nice and letting me stay here. How the hell did you guys find me anyways?" Paul seemed hurt by my harsh tone. "Your friend Janessa told us where you went after we convinced her we weren't here to hurt you." I walked into the living room and sat on the couch. Jared and Embry sat next to me whilst Paul sat down in the armchair. "I know you guys are probably mad I left but I felt I had to. I wasn't doing any good being there and it's my fault Paul is in this situation." I said looking at Jared and Embry. Paul stood up shaking his head. "How could it be your fault? I drug you into this world. You're not the monster here. If anything you made my life ten times better." I didn't know how to respond to him. "Jo we are your family. Thick or thin we are here for you always. You didn't need to leave. It was a tough situation but we could have figured it out together. Your parents are worried sick and I especially was worried. You need to come back. We are going to figure all this out." Embry said putting his arm around me. Jared looked at me sympathetically. I started crying. "I don't want anyone to get hurt because of me. I wouldn't be able to handle the thought of me causing you guys pain and grief." Jared reached over and took my hand "we are grown men Jo. We protect our own, that's why fate chose us to be spirit warriors. We love you and want you to come home.............. plus Paul hasn't told you something that may be a game changer here." I looked to Paul who looked semi-frightened. "Really what is it?" He sat back down running his hands over his face. "Well babe I'm just going to come right out and say it. The elders did some more research and whatnot and think they may have found out how you and I can fix our intense bond or whatever............... you have to create a bond with something else, or someone else in this case." I scrunched up my nose "I have to to find another boyfriend? What the fuck, how can our culture get any more messed up?!" Embry laughed "No you have that wrong Jo." Paul looked disgusted "there is no way I would ever share you with anyone else. Fuck that.................. no I meant as in............ a baby."
