Thirteenth Poem- Dying Flame

Dying Flame

I really should stop pretending

But I still say I'm fine

I feel the pain that is never ending

Its because I lost someone who was mine

I hear your laughter in the air

I hear your voice in my dreams

I miss seeing you on your favourite armchair

And I miss watching you cheer for your favourite sport teams

I feel an empty hole in my chest

I wasn't lying when I said you had my heart

You were the one who knew me best

And the only one allowed to call me sweetheart

I remember the past

We made so many memories

Life seemed to go by so fast

It seemed like it was a really short story

We had others come over every Sunday

And we all just sat and talked til dawn

But then it all ended on a rainy day

When suddenly, you left me and were gone

I knew the day was bound to come

I thought I had prepared myself

And yet the pain made me go numb

Because I loved you the most and nobody else

Our children got older

And I'm getting older too

Life seems to pass much slower

And I just want to be with you

My happiness and will to live is gone

Don't know how long I can go one

I was once a beautiful fire

But my glow and joy has gone

No matter what, this will always stay the same

Because my spirit, heart and body itself is a dying flame

Feels like I haven't updated for years! I wrote this because.....I felt like I needed to write this. Many people loose their loved ones and its so sad because they deserve better. I wrote this for someone who doesn't know I exist btw.
