"No way." I breath out. These monsters were huge. Some of them had multiple heads and each spat out a different thing. Either poison, fire, boiling hot water or some things we don't even know. Others had the skin of an armadillo. Really tough. Others, I can't even describe. They are all huge and ginormous. And definitely hard to beat.
"We need dragons." Andrew says. "They're still a few miles away. We can go get the dragons and come back." He says looking desperate. I follow him and we fly like we've never flown before. My body may be aching horribly, but I have to do this. We reach Dragon Lair faster than we thought.
"Ida" I call out as we turn into human. "Yeah?" She asks peeking her head out. She sees us and comes out of her cave. "We need help. Awry's monsters are moving towards the fairies' realm. We need your help." I say frantically. "Okay." She says. She calls out to the other dragons. The dragons live in a mountain. It's more of a fat, short mountain with many caves. Ida describes the scene to them and they all stomp their feet. "We'll leave the kids and the young adults here to defend our home, along with some older dragons. Everyone else goes to the fairies' realm. Let's go!" She says.
Andrew and I turn into birds and the dragons spread their wings and lift off. "Why do they take a lot of the older dragons with us?" I ask. "The older the dragon is, the harder the skin they have. It's like a growing armor." Andrew explains. "Oh. Cool." I reply. I realize that there aren't just hundreds of dragons. There are thousands. I guess some were taking care of all the young dragons while we were fighting. I didn't k ow that there were this many of them.
We fly to the fairies' realm and we get there just as the monsters start arriving. Andrew and I land near Ashley and Brandon. "Esther! Andrew!" They cry out as they run and hug us. We hug them back. They look up and their mouths hang open. I guess not many people see hundreds of dragons in the sky flying to their aid.
"Wow." Ashley says looking at us in disbelief. We shrug and share a smile.
"Where are the others?" I ask. "Scattered on the field. We need to help the fairies." Brandon replies. "We're really not doing so well. We're holding them off from entering the city, but we can't hold on forever. Especially with these monsters coming." He says shaking his head. Ashley rests a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry. We can do this." She says. He nods and gives her a small smile. They kiss and run back into the field as the wave goodbye to us.
"Sweet." I say. He looks at me and gives me a smile. "This is gonna be a long week." He says. I nod. I get my shapeshifting weapon and change it into a boomerang. I swing it and it slices five soldiers before it returns to me. "And you don't call yourself brutal." He says with a smile. I laugh and he comes towards me. He gives me a quick peck on the lips. I must've looked surprised 'cause he laughs. "Never know which is gonna be our last." He says shrugging with a smile on his face. I smile back and we run into battle.
I use my boomerang, and my bow. They help me more. They take our more soldiers than I could with a sword, knife or spear. The ground's still rumbling. But the rumbling stops. Everyone looks up as the monsters come in. Our enemy soldiers cheer. There are only about a hundred tough monsters. When the dragons land in front of us, the fairies cheer. We are all renewed with new strength and encouragement. We fight harder.
A scream pierces the air. I run to where the sound is coming from with Andrew following. And then, I see her. Sophia is lying on the ground, her hand covering her thigh. "Sophia?" I approach her and kneel. She looks at me and smiles. "Hey, Esther. Guess I over acted, huh? I'm not in so much pain." She says with a smile.
"Let me see. Then we'll decide if you over acted or not." I tell her. She removes her hand from her wound. She was stabbed. "It's not too deep. You'll be okay. I suggest that you go to the castle and rest." I say putting my hand over her wound and letting some power relieve the pain. She relaxes. "Okay." She says as Ashley and Brandon come up. "Sophia? You okay?" Ashley asks kneeling beside me.
"I just got stabbed and I killed the guy. Sure I'm fine, Ash." Sophia says with a smile. Ashley gives a small smile. Brandon and Andrew just look at Sophia. Then when she's ready, they carry her and bring her to the castle. "See you later!" They say to me and Ashley. We wave and look at the on going battle.
The dragons are fighting the monsters quite well, if you ask me. "I think we'll be fine." Ashley says. "Don't be so sure. But I think so too." I say. Isis and Jenia run to us. "We need to leave. Now." Isis says. We run to the castle as the explain why. "Altri and Amia need us to go to Cordialis. Awry is sending monsters to Giant's Keep too. Thankfully. There are already dragons there. We need to stop Awry." Jenia says. We reach the castle and run up to our rooms to get our backpacks. We run back down. "What about the boys?" I ask. "I'll stay and wait for them and Sophia. You guys go ahead. Altri, Amia and Yera are waiting in Ibis' island." Jenia says. And so, we run out.
