We sit down and wait. Isis comes back after a few hours.
"This is worse than we thought. Awry has great numbers. I flew to the fairy's realm. Beatrice's army of fairies is fighting off a large army from Awry. They have the fairies surrounded. Seems like the places we visit, are always attacked. I wonder why." She says thinking. "Probably because there are spies." Andrew says shrugging. "At a tracker." I say looking down. "Esther, we took out the last tracker. Remember?" He asks sitting next to me. I nod remembering the pain while placing my hand on the wound. It still hurts a bit.
"What if there is another tracker in me. Somewhere that isn't obvious? Maybe it's inside me. Like fluid." I say. Isis is still looking thoughtful. Ida comes in. "Hello. I couldn't help but overhear the conversation." She says.
"No problem." I reply. "Esther. Just to say something helpful, Awry probably doesn't have the serum to injecting a tracker inside a body. She never goes more advanced than the other kingdoms. The most advanced is Heraina. Next is Atro, then Cordialis. Then Bane. The fairies, Dragon Lair, and Giant's Keep don't count." Ida says. "Neither does the Beyond." She adds.
"So I might not have a tracker in my body." I say slowly. "Yup." Ida replies nodding. "Okay, then. So how would we explain Awry's armies getting to the places we visit so fast?" I ask. "Like you said earlier, spies." Ida says. "There are spies among the dragons?" Isis asks shaking her head. "Unbelievable. Dragons are known to be loyal and trustworthy."
"Probably not dragons then. The spies could be regular skilled people, powered people, or such." Andrew says. "True." I say.
We hear thunder in the distance. "Seems like a Arron's coming." Isis says. "We, dragons aren't affected by storms. We'll be fine resting out here. You guys better stay here though." Ida says leaving. We call out a "sure thing" after her.
"So, I guess we're staying here for a while." I say. Andrew and Isis nod and we start falling asleep.
I wake up with water on my feet. Water? I sit up and look around. The cave has flooded a bit. A few inches. I shake Isis awake and tickle Andrew awake. They both sit up, startled. They look around.
We stand up and grab our weapons. "At least you finally got to use those." Andrew says. I giggle and nod. We peek out of the cave. Wow. The ground was a bit flooded too. But just as Ida said earlier, the dragons aren't affected. They're actually still sleeping. Unbelievable. I wish I could be like them.
I look over at the forest and see figures moving. I see someone throw a bomb into the mouth of a snoring dragon that opens its mouth once in a while. The dragon blows up. Oh no they didn't. Not cool. So not cool. They're so going down.
"Don't even think about it." Andrew says looking at me. "What?" I ask with an innocent face on. "You're putting on that face again. First, you wish you could be a dragon. Second, you wanna run into the forest and take down those soldiers." He says. He's right. "How do you do that?" "I know you well." He says with a wink and a laugh.
Of course he does. He should. He's my husband. Duh, Esther. Duh.
We watch from the entrance of the cave as the soldiers approach. All the dragons have already gotten up. Woke up 'cause of the explosion I guess.
Ida approaches us. "It'll be harder fighting in the rain. But you'll be okay right?" She asks. We nod. As she leaves, I whisper, "I am so not going to be okay. We're in the rain. Fire doesn't do so good in rain. It works, but not as good." I say. "Then use your storm powers, Esther. You're a conveyor." Isis says. "Okay." I say a bit unsure. I'm not really good at wielding my storm powers or my shape shifting powers. The weapon, I can, but not the powers. I can, but not good.
We see the soldiers gather at the edge of the forest. "They aren't advancing." Andrew says. "All the dragons are ready." Ida says coming up to us. We nod and prepare.
And they advance. So we advance too.
