‘Luke what am I supposed to wear?’ I groaned after realising that we had to be at court in just under two hours. Somehow the paps found out everything and stories had been on the news all morning. I hadn’t even bothered to check my Twitter yet, already knowing that my mentions would be blowing up. ‘I dunno whatever looks good.’ He groaned as he tried to dodge the piles of clothes tossed out around the room. ‘Ahha here it is.’ I squealed half heartdedly as I held up the dress I had been looking for. It was like a coral blouse tucked into a black pencil skirt. Considering that we had to leave in just over an hour, I didn’t have much time. I needed to make sure that my witness speech is ready as well as comforting Jess.
As I jumped in the shower, I started to wash my body with strawberry body wash and shampoo. My shower lasted barely 5 minutes when I jumped out, wrapping the towel around myself in the process. I dried myself off quickly and threw my hair up in a towel. I grabbed the dress off the hanger and threw it on adjusting it so it sat right underneath my chest. I applied my make-up and dried my hair with the blowdrier then curled my hair.
‘Tori I need help.’ Luke groaned, as he stuck his head through the door, holding his tie in his hand. I managed to chuckle at him despite the miserable state I was in. ‘You look beautiful.’ He whispered when I reached up to tie his tie. I pulled him in for a sweet kiss, as I laid his tie against his chest. ‘I love you handsome.’ I whispered when the kiss broke. And that was when I saw him smile the first genuine smile in days.
‘Jess come on honey.’ I whispered to her as I tried to bring her to the car. ‘No I can’t do this.’ She sighed, tears falling down her face. Fletcher was staying at Ashton’s parents house for the day, spending time with his grandparents, Harry and Lauren. ‘Jess you have to do this, for Fletcher alright.’ I pleaded trying to loosen her grip on the door. She just shook her head, clutching onto the door until her knuckles were turning white. Tears were rushing down her face and I couldn’t imagine the pain she was in. It killed me too see her like this. ‘Here Tor you go into the car, we’ll be there soon.’ Ashton weakly smiled, placing a hand on my shoulder. I nodded looking up into his eyes, the rims were red, telling me he had been crying.
‘How is she?’ El asked when I climbed back into the car. We all split into two cars, Liam, El, Louis, Jess, Ash, Luke and I were in one while Cal, Mel, Niall, Harry, Zayn and Perrie were in the other. ‘She could be worse I guess.’ I weakly smiled. Everyone nodded, before falling silent once again. Nobody knew what to say.
Paparazzi and fans were surrounding the courthouse making it near impossible to get in. Jess and Ashton pushed in before everyone, leaving the rest of us to try and calm down the crowd. ‘Hey.’ Liam roared. By far he was the angriest of all of us. The noise slowly died down as everyone looked over at Liam. ‘These two people could be losing their child. Show a bit of respect.’ He screamed before turning and running inside. Everyone was shocked, you could hear a pin drop at that second. ‘Let’s go.’ I whisper, grabbing Luke’s hand and following Liam inside.
‘Come on. Their about to start.’ Luke said when we walked into the court house. The room was already filled with people including Simon and a bunch of paparazzi. I don’t know how they got in here, but there were police officers trying to get them out.
(A/N I don’t know how to actually write a court case so I’m just going to write it along the same lines as what I have seen other writers do.)
We all walked over to meet the lawyer and Ashton, Jess, Luke and I sat with him while everyone else sat behind the barricade.
Across the room Matt was smirking at us, whilst talking to his lawyers.
‘Oh how I want to go over there and slap the smirk off his face.’ I muttered to Luke, who managed to stiffle a laugh.
‘All rise for Judge Anthony Daniels’ A police officer said as we all stood up waiting for the middle age man to sit down. Once he sat everyone else sat with him, waiting for it to start.
‘We are here today for the case of Jessica Grace Rivers and Ashton Fletcher Irwin versus Matthew Charles Roberts for the legal rights to Fletcher Tory Rivers. Please be seated.’ He finished as we all sat down.
Over the past hour there had been many people going up and speaking why Jess or Matt should be able to keep Fletcher. There had been some good arguments on each side.
‘We would like to call Jessica Grace Rivers up to the stand.’ Matt’s lawyer smirked. Jess completely froze next to me refusing to get up. ‘Come on Jess. You can do this.’ I smiled patting her knee trying to give her a bit of confidence.
‘Tori do it for me please. Tell them everything I told you. I can’t do this.’ Jess whispered, giving me and the lawyer pleading looks. I sighed in defeat as I watched our lawyer try and convince the judge to let me talk instead.
‘Fine we would now like to call Tori Addison Carter to the stand.’ Matt’s lawyer huffed in annoyance. I pushed my seat back slowly and made my way over to the stand, my heels clacking against the ground.
‘Do you Tori Addison Carter swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.’ A police officer asked me.
‘I do.’ I said before climbing into the seat next to me.
‘Now Miss Carter, would you please explain to us why you think that my client Mr Roberts is unfit to raise Fletcher.’ The annoying lawyer asked. I sent Jess one last look to make sure she was ok with me saying this. This was the one thing that only three people know. But now that secret is about to be let out.
‘Matt used to abuse Jess.’
Alright cliffhanger.
I know I hadn’t brought this last bit up in the story before but it wouldn’t make as much drama otherwise. ;)
