The Cold

You know that feeling that you get when you realize that everything you want is right in front of you, but then that voice whispers to you from behind you? When you talk to the person and ask then a question that can change everything between you two and then you get no reply. Or you just know that person so well that deep down, you already know the answer isn't the one that you want. That cold dark feeling? Not physically cold, but emotionally cold in your heart and brain. You get your hopes up when deep down you know it's not going to happen. It just hits you like a truck and thats all you can suddenly feel. That cold feeling of what could be, but what never will. The kind of cold that makes your skin go cold and your bones freeze. The kind that makes you want to curl up in a ball and cry or die. The kind of cold that sometimes lasts longer then it needs to. Maybe even makes you feel sick or you start to choke up as you realize you can't have what you want. The darkness engulfs your heart in the cold, it springs up from nowhere and traps you. It takes it's time to twist your mind and break your heart. The reality hurts when it sets in and the cold it brings hurts and lasts. It's not sad, it's more than that, but not quite depressed. You know that feeling and deep down it still has its claws dug into you, taking every piece of your heart that it can find. It physically feels like your heart is shattering and you can't find all the pieces that are scattered everywhere around you. This creature, this dark cold creature makes its stay much longer then needed and more painful then expected.
