Chapter 31

*the next day*

Ruzek POV*

It was early in the morning. I got up and went for a jog. I heard someone panting in pain. I looked behind a car down an alley way and saw this guys.

Me: oh shit.

I somehow brought my pager that was attached to my pocket. I pulled it out quickly.

Me: ITS ADAM RUZEK IM DOWN AN ALLEY WITH A MAN, GUN SHOT TO THE SIDE BLOOD EVERYWHERE AND HES ALL BEAT UP! SEND AN AMBO QUICK!

about 10 minutes later Ambulance 61 came and so did Voight Katie and Antonio. They took the man to the hospital. We went back to the district.

Voight: Antonio and Katie, you two go and interview the guy. We could connect this to Kim's disappearance.

Antonio's POV*

Katie and i walked into the guys room.

Me: whats your name man?
Guy: Mark Hayes
Katie: Mark, who shot you?
Mark; this man who i was caught up with. We had kidnapped this girl and i didnt wanna do it. He made me.
Me: whats his name?
Mark: Ross Harris.
Katie: where is he?
Mark: i dont know. He had moved his location because he knew i would tell. Please dont let him come after me.
Me: we wont. Thanks for your cooperation

<back at the district>

Adam POV*

Jin: ROSS HARRIS. Hes a very rich and wealthy man. He was arrested in 2005 for a drug deal. He claimed he became clean and he wouldnt do anything bad. He lost most of his money. Now hes connected in a gang. I found his phone texts and records, called the same number here in chicago 10 times. It was Kim's number. He left a threatening text saying if she didnt do what he said he was gonna go after her.
Voight: where does he live?
Jin: 2245 West Sunset Street
Voight: alright everyone vest up we're moving out

I was in the garage getting my vest on. Katie walked over to me.

Katie: you alright?
Me: yeah.
Katie: look Voight's not gonna let me but i dont care, im gonna go in right away. I want you to cover my ass. Got it?
Me: yeah got it.

<at Ross' house>

Voight on pager: alright listen, we go to the back and enter that way. The front could be too risky.
Katie: copy that
Me: okay
Antonio: yes sir
Erin: yup
Jay: lets do this
Alvin: everyone keep watch

We all got out of our cars and pulled out our guns. Jay went first then Katie followed. It was like follow the leader the way we were walking. We made our way to the back door.

Voight: on my count.. One...

I looked at Katie and she was ready to barge in.

Voight: two...

She gave me a head nod and i nodded back.

Voight: three

He opened the door and Katie ran in. I was right behind her. The house was all one floor and it was empty.

Katie: CLEAR
Me: CLEAR
Jay: CLEAR
Antonio: CLEAR
Voight: alright. Lets go back to the district and-
Erin: wait whats that noise?

We all heard a ringing sound. I looked behind me and saw a closed closet door. I opened it to revel a bomb.

Me: Bomb.
Voight: everyone out now!

Katie POV*

I started running out when i heard something. I went back and looked around. I saw someone on the floor. It looked like Kim. I turned the girl over to reveal a passed out teenage girl. I paged out to everyone.

Me: halstead! I found a body! Come help me.

He ran in and we tried to get out. The ringing noise got louder and that meant i was going to blow.

Jay: GET DOWN!

I laid on top of the girl as he laid on top of me holding me close. A loud boom filled our ears. I was able to look around before everything went black.

Jay POV*

I was protecting Katie and the girl. I saw everything was on fire. But we were safe. I knew the fire department was on their way. Just then i heard someone.

Casey: FIRE DEPARTMENT CALL OUT
Me: help!

Casey, Severide, Mills and Cruz all came to us.

Severide: oh my god Katie...

He picked her up and ran out with her. Cruz and Mills picked up the girl as Casey helped me. We all made it out alright. He took me to Gabby and Shay.

Gabby: Jay you alright?
Me: yeah. Hows Katie?
Shay: Katie wasnt here..
Me: Severide took her
Shay: he hasnt come out yet
Gabby: Chief! Severide is missing
Chief: Casey, Mills, Capp and Cruz go find him! GO GO GO!

I was worried sick at this point. Erin and everyone came up to me.

Erin: thank god your okay
Voight: wheres Katie?
Me: severide picked her up and now their missing..
Antonio: just relax man.
Adam; we're being attacked.
Alvin; what?
Adam: think about it. This guy took one of our own. Hes trying to find ways to kill us.
Alvin: he mustve known we were coming
Antonio: everything we speak about this case. Stays quiet. Everyone understand?

I nodded and so did everyone else. About 5 minutes later Casey and the guys came out with Katie and Severide. Shay put Katie on a stretcher and they sat Severide down by the ambo.

Me; how is she?
Gabby: its just a shock. Shes gonna be okay.
Katie: Jay?

I looked at her and held her hand.

Me: im here.
Katie: thank you.
Me: for what?
Katie: you saved me.. And that girl...
Me: well i love you
Katie smiled: i love you too

Severide walked over to us.

Severide: you alright?
Me: im good. Thanks for saving her
Severide: shes my best friend. I had to
Katie: thanks Kelly.

We went back to the district later that day. I was in the room behind the interrogation room. Katie and Antonio were interrogating the girl they found.

Katie: so you know Ross?
Girl; hes my brother. He had some chick with him.
Antonio: did he say where he was going?
Girl: to some warehouse on South Elm.
Antonio: your not lying right?
Girl: no. I swear

She looked serious at Antonio then at Katie.

Girl: i swear

They nodded and walked out. They came into the room Voight Adam and I were in.

Katie: what do we do?
Voight: you two go to the warehouse. If you find something page us.

Antonio and Katie walked out. We sent the girl to a rehab to help her with her drug abuse.

Antonio POV*

Katie and I walked into the warehouse with our guns out. We slowly looked around. That was when we heard it...
