Chapter 45

Katie POV*

The next day i woke up and Jay still wasnt home. Guess he stayed out all night. I went into work and Lowe was still there.

Me: out of my desk
Lowe: excuse me?
Me: out of my desk. Im back and your going back to NY

No one else was around. We were the first two there. He stood up in anger.

Lowe: what was that?
Me: OUT-OF-MY-SEAT

He grabbed my arm and started squeezing it. He pulled me to the back so no one would see.

Lowe: dont embarass me. Okay pumpkin?
Me: fuck off

Just then he slapped me.

I was shocked. I held my face as i held back the tears.

Lowe: mess with me again and your done
Me: leave me alone asshole!

He started throwing punches. He missed a few time but finally someone pulled him off me. It was Adam.

Adam: GET AWAY FROM HER NOW!
Lowe: man she was just being a bitch. I gotta put her in place
Adam: LEAVE! You dont belong here
Lowe: you're gonna regret letting me go Katie.

He stormed out. Adam turned to me.

Adam; you okay?
Me: yeah.

I started crying as Adam hugged me. We went to the diner we almost always go to.

Me: thanks
Adam: your one of my best friends. So hows you and Jay doing?
Me: not so good.
Adam; what happened?
Me: we got into a fight. It was about Justin.
Adam; Justin Voight?!
Me: yes. And hes my brother and hes staying at my house till he gets the courage to tell Voight he left military school.
Adam; i thought you were gonna say you were sleeping with him. I wouldve chocked on my food!

I laughed. It felt good talking to Adam. Just then an old friend walked in.

Pat: Katie?
Me: hey.
Pat; can you talk?
Adam: ill go pay. Ill meet you at the office.

He got up and Pat sat across from me in the booth.

Pat; im sorry. I know we had our differences but-
Me: dont worry about it.
Pat: hows my daughter?
Me: fine.
Pat: good. Well call me and we can all meet up again. Tell her i said hello.
Me; will do!

She got up and left. I was pretty shocked to see her. I couldnt tell Jay i saw her though. He would freak out. I got up and went back to the office. Everyone was waiting for me as a new case was handed to us.

Voight: Jacobs&Lindsay, go by the crack-houses see what C.I you can talk to.

We got up and left. We walked into a house and I followed Erin to the back room. We saw this girl. She looked completely fine. Didnt look like she did drugs nothing. She was applying make up.

Brooke: Erin Lindsay. Never thought i would see you again.
Erin: listen Brooke i need your help
Brooke: you shouldnt have come.
Erin: why?

Just then Charlie walked in.

Charlie: well its my three girls. Welcome home babes.

Erin and I gave each other a glance and we pulled out our guns. Charlie held his hands high.

Charlie: never thought i would see you two again.
Me: wipe that smirk off your face Charlie. Who bailed you out?
Charlie: this cutie right next to me.
Erin: Brooke? How could you?

Brooke just turned away without answering Erin.

Me: Erin?
Erin: what?
Me: why are we doing this? We're just gonna end up walking out of here without him. Might as well do it now.
Erin: fine.

We put our guns away and started walking out.

Erin: Im ashamed of you Brooke.

We shut the door and went out to our car.

Me: i cant believe hes out.
Erin: i cant believe she helped him.
Me: so how do you know her?
Erin; theres something i never told anyone.
Me: what?
Erin; shes my younger sister.
Me: shes your what?
Erin: Charlie had adopted her and my fake parents adopted me. No one ever knew we were separated.
Me: why didnt you tell Voight?
Erin: he wouldnt be able to help. Now she remains at his side like a dog.
Me: we'll get her back. I promise.
Erin: i just wanted her to get clean so i wouldnt have to worry. But i do.

We went back to the station and Jay still wasnt in.

Me: Jay still hasnt come in?
Antonio: your his fiancé you should know where he is

He laughed.

I gave him a glare to shut up.

Me: he didnt come home last night and wasnt around this morning..
Voight: Jacobs- my office.

I went into his office and Commander Perry was in there.

Me: Commander Perry.

I shook his hand.

Perry: Jay Halstead is missing. We got word saying you two had an altercation at home?
Me: yes.
Perry; well until we find him, your our top suspect and you are suspended from work.
Me: what?
Voight; listen to him.

I pulled out my gun and put it on the table and then took my badge out and placed it on the table i walked out and left. I got home and no one was around. I was really upset i got suspended. I heard someone knock on the door and when i opened it, i saw it was Brooke.

Me: Brooke.
Brooke: Hi.
