I turned around and unsuspectedly saw a knife that was made of wood and stone, pointing straight at us.
I looked at her. She wore, ripped blue trousers and a striped t-shirt with a faded star. On her shirt, was a broken red whistle. Her trainers were very dirty and scruffy. Her black hair had been secured in what looked like an elastic band. Her skin was dirty and she had dried mud on her face.
“Please, we mean no harm,” pleaded Violet.
“Yea, we were just looking for something to carry our water with,” I said.
“Why are you here?” she questioned.
“Someone took us. They captured us and we escaped to woods. Please, we didn’t know this was you’re stuff,” I explained, as I did, she blew her whistle very loudly.
“W-what are you doing?” Violet stuttered.
“Company will arrive, in case you decide to attack,” she said.
“We won’t attack, trust me,” I said.
“Sit.” She ordered. We did so obediently. “Is there any more people with you?”
“Yes, but there somewhere else,” I replied.
“How many?”
“Three,” answered Violet.
Nobody said anything for a while, until another girl came running up to us. She looked very similar to the other girl, so I guessed they were twins.
“Soph!” she said running up to the other girl.
“Lydia!” she said waving back.
They hugged each other as they came close. I guessed ‘Soph’ was a shortened name for Sophia.
“Who’s this?” asked Lydia.
“Thieves. They tried to take our stuff,” she said.
“We not thieves! If we knew these things belonged to people, we wouldn’t of taken anything!” I protested.
“Why are they here?” she asked.
Sophia turned around to look at me, as if she was expecting an answer.
“She told us to sit.” I replied. “Why are you here?”
“What?” said Lydia.
“Why are you here and how did you get here?” I repeated.
“We’ve been here for a while now. I can’t exactly remember the details. All I remember is me being snatched from the park. They took Lydia too. I think we’ve been here for about three months now,” said Sophia.
“Did a man take you?” I asked.
“Yes, in a van.” said Lydia. “Do you know him?”
“He’s my father,” I said.
“What?”
“The man that took us, he’s my father,” I repeated.
Lydia’s next movement was so sudden, that I jumped. She had jumped onto me, pointing the knife at my neck. Sophia cried out loud, and then she pulled Lydia off me. Violet tugged at her leg.
“What the hell?” I said adjusting my shirt.
“This girl was part of the plan! Don’t you see?” she said her eyes wide open. She was using the knife as if it was a pointer.
“Just because it’s her father, doesn’t mean she was part of it! Use your common sense,” she said now shouting at her. “I’m very sorry; I will apologize in place of my sister.”
“It’s ok, I understand.” I said.
“I think it would be best to go now,” she said pointing in the other direction.
“Wait, no. Please, I want to ask you if we could team up,” I said.
