Chapter Two - The Stranger

I got up from where I was crouched and ran to my bedroom which I burst the door open to and threw on the first items of clothing that I saw. I picked up a big oversized sweater which was blue and my black skinny jeans. I checked myself in my mirror and saw my reflection. My big hazel eyes looked straight back at me and my chestnut hair sat loosely on my shoulders. I had tanned skin from when I was fifteen, when me and my mother and my (real) father visited Spain to go to the beach. I snapped back to reality and walked over to the door.

I'm not going to open the door, I thought to myself.  Just a peek through the small door hole, I said reassuringly. I peeked through the hole and I could see a small head with brown tuffs of hair sticking out.

A male hair cut, I thought. On top of his head was a red cap that said 'Post Man'. I sighed but I still didn't open the door.

"You've got mail!" called a cheery voice from outside the door.

I guess a post man couldn't do any harm, I thought, silently. I un-bolted the locks and turned the key. I pulled open the handle and as I did a huge gush of wind blew in my face. I wrapped my arms around myself, attempting to make myself warmer.

I looked at the man properly and his green gleaming eyes, looked straight back at me. His face was small and it looked like he hadn't shaved for a while, because the hairs on his chin were growing in short brown spikes. He had the post man uniform; a normal blue shirt which was tucked in a pair of blue trousers and on the shirt was a red badge that read his name. I peered at the badge and it said; "Alan Williams."

Where have I heard that name before? I thought.

His shoes were ordinary, black polished shoes. On top of all of this was a red water-proof jacket that had the post logo.

"Hello?" he said looking confused even though he was still smiling.

"Sorry. I was just-"I started.

"Don't worry. Forget about it." He said as he smiled. "Sorry to interrupt you, but there's a package that needs to be given to you so you can sign it."

"Okay! That's fine," I said holding, my hands out dumbly.

"It's at the back of my post van. If you don't mind but, your parents strictly asked me to not take it out from the van," he said pointing to where the vehicle stood.

"Sure, let me grab some shoes and a coat," I said as I took my coat from the rack and found some ugg boots lying near me. I opened the door wider and stepped outside onto the mat that read 'WELCOME' and I turned around and shut the door.

Damn. How am I supposed to come back in? Great, I will have to wait till mum comes back. I thought miserably, as I followed him.

"It's round here," said the man, pointing at the red luminous van. I stood next to the back doors, while he took out his car keys and pressed the button which made a chink sound. He pulled the doors open and looked at me. I looked back at him, waiting in the cold.
