Once,
I described you as
A colour,
I described you as
The colour of the rain.
Today,
I am going to describe myself,
As a colour.
I have chosen
To describe myself
As two
Colours.
Yellow
And
Black.I am the yellow of the sun,
I am the sunshine and the warmth that come with it.
I am the yellow of the centre of a daisy,
I am small and soft and protected by my petals.
I am the yellow of lemons and pineapples,
I am the sweetness and zest you love these two for.
I am the yellow of your favourite pair of worn out socks,
I give you the comfort and belonging you so desperately seek.
I am the yellow colour pencils of your art supplies,
I bring colour and light to your black and white picture.
I am the yellow of the flowers intertwined with the rails of a Parisian balcony,
I am nourished by the sweet, sweet air of the City of Love and Lights.
I am the yellow of the fairy lights and fireflies you stopped to admire,
I am the flicker of hope you see in the dark. I am the yellow of the surface of Venus,
I look like a glowing orb of love swirling around an entire existence, bringing love to an entire galaxy. But sometimes,
I am not yellow.
Sometimes,
I am black.
I am the black of the moon,
Blocking out my own sunshine during an eclipse.
I am the black of the eyes of a cat,
I am small and soft and protected by my claws.
I am the black of blackberries,
At the right time I am as sweet as the centre of a pineapple, but plucked too soon, I am acidic.
I am the black of your old hoodie from college,
I am nostalgia and remembering.
I am the black paint of your art supplies,
I am used to mark danger lines.
I am the black of the paint chipping off on a Parisian balcony,
I have grown old inside my soul watching love love and love fade.
I am the black of the air engulfing fairy lights and fireflies, refusing to let them into light,
I am the darkness that needs their flickers of hope.
I am the black of the black hole,
Sucking in the love of the glowing orb, because I am a galaxy.I am blackandyellow
I am yellowandblack
I guess
I am
A bee.
I am the golden yellow of it's honey,
And I am the dark black of it's sting.
I am a bee.
