in a city of over 8 million people, you will be able to start over. none of what you're stressing over now will even cross your mind there. there will be so much to do, and so many places to go, and so many people to meet, that you will forget all of this. you will be able to stand on the 102nd floor of the empire state building, and you will finally breathe. the chill air of the city will give you goosebumps, but you will see the skyline around you, and you will not care. you will discover so many little coffee shops in this city, that you will have tasted the world, all in a cup. the crowds on the streets will claim you, and you will be one of them before you realise it. soon enough, you will hustle. you will put on that coat and those heels and that scarf, and you will walk down fifth avenue like you own it. your wanderlust will lead you to more aesthetic photo spots than you could have ever imagined; you will spend days looking at the skyscrapers and autumn leaves through a camera lens. you will get lost. you will find your way back home. you will meet people who don't speak the same languages as you, but who you will still understand. you will smile at strangers, and strangers will smile at you. you will go running every morning in central park, and someday, you will buy an apartment that overlooks it. you will be happy, and safe, and you will be loved. your heart will ache for the handful of people that you couldn't bring with you when you came here, but they will still be as important to you as ever. they will still love you, and you, them. here, you will find yourself more often with an unconscious smile on your face, than you will find yourself with sudden tears in your eyes. the concrete jungle will have your heart. the city of dreams will give you the freedom to chase yours. here, yours will not be the only window whose light stays turned on well past a godly hour. you will be one of the doers. here, in the city that never sleeps, your determination will not be seen as an obsession, it will be determination. here, you will feel like you can accomplish anything. none of your previous insecurities will have any power over you. here, you will be empowered. here, you will be able to move on. you will be able to be what you have always wanted to be. you will be able to start over. here, it will be better.
