The End for Friends and Sanity

Roderia covered her mouth and shut her eyes so she did not have to see what was in front of her.

The dead body of her one and only traitorous friend. Even with her eyes shut, the image of blood still pouring from the throat and mouth stayed in her mind. The eyes, dead and glossed over. Liesta laid there, soaking in her own blood. Roderia felt the wetness make her pants cling to her, the blood still warm and fresh.

"Roderia. Get back." Erwin said as he tugged at her gently. Roderia climbed to her feet, shakily and shocked. Erwin hugged her tightly, even though he looked at Liesta on the floor.

The image was still fresh in her mind.

"I can't always be there to protect you." Liesta said as she picked at her food. She gently smiled and threw the tray away. Then left for her duties.

Roderia started to cry harder. How ironic.

"Don't push yourself too hard!" Liesta grabbed Roderia's hands and threw the swords away. Liesta tightly gripped her shoulders and made Roderia look at her in the eyes. "Your too careless with yourself. Tell me your troubles." Liesta smiled warmly at her. Roderia got weak and fell. They hugged with Roderia sobbing silently on Liesta's shoulder.

Losing the friend she only had made her heart feel worse. Even if she was a traitor who never really cared for her...

"I can never hate you even if I wanted to." Liesta whispered. She got off the ground of the forest and went to the meeting place from the third whistle.

"Liesta! Come back!" Roderia screamed. her tears were falling like a faucet, never stopping because the handle was broken. Her heart has been broken.

"Im Sorry! Forgive me!"She cried out as she left Erwin and huddled next to Liesta. She lifted Liesta's dangling head and she tried not to stare at the wound. She pushed the hair matted with blood from Liesta's forehead and her tears washed away some of the blood on the blank face.

"Take my spot." Liesta told Roderia. The fire lit up the world between them.

"I couldn't..." She started to say. Liesta was already moving on the tree branch. The fire crackeled,  providing them both some warmth in the chilly night. Roderia crawled to Liesta's spot and it gradually got warmer. She was propped up against the tree trunk and Liesta was now laying down in Roderia's spot, huddeled and shivering. Their breaths made white puffs in the air. The night seemed to get darker as Roderia drifted off to sleep. The sounds of titans dispersed and got unusually quiet.

Half awake, half asleep, Roderia could feel the branch moving then a shadow blocking the evergoing fire.

"I will love you forever Roderia." Liesta whispered and kissed her forehead gently. A tear fell on Roderia's cheek. "I wish I were your actual sister. I bid you farewell." Liesta went back to her spot, as Roderia slowly fell into a coma.

Roderia hiccuped softly and put her forehead on Liesta's dead one.

"I love you too." She whispered as she cried. Everything around her turned black. She wanted Liesta to come to her again. But now she was gone forever, and she won't come back. She betrayed Roderia, but with all the things that she recalled, It's just not black and white.

The world is the color of gray. And thag was exactlt how she was feeling as of this moment.

She felt a hand on her shoulder.

"...deria...Roderia." She realized that Erwin was calling to her. Roderia felt Erwin try to tug her away from Liesta but that made her grab Liesta's body harder.

"Its time to let go." Erwin said gently. Roderia slowly shook her head.

"No...No I can't..." Roderia felt herself become cold slowly. Her tears stopped.

She felt Erwin try to pry her hand away. Roderia fought back. But she was engulfed into his arms instead. Although it didn't help her because she heard the sickening thunk of Liesta's dead body hit the floor. Roderia clenched Erwin's shirt tightly. She felt herself being lifted in the air. Erwin walked over Liesta's body, Roderia caught a glimpse before they turned the corner. She closed her eyes tightly.

Someone killed her. But who was it? Her mind was trying to rack up an idea.

Dmitri.

Roderia tried to squirm out of Erwins arms, but he wouldn't loosen his hold. She felt him open a door and then lay Roderia on a bed. Roderia looked at Erwin standing at the foot of the bed. His face was serious.

"Dont remember that scene." Erwin said as he went to the side of the bed and sat down. Roderia tried to get up but his hand clasped down on her thigh.

"I need to find Dmi-"

"You will stay here until I say so, understood?" Erwin looked her in the eyes. Fear was hidden in his, with a mix of worry. "Liesta got her life taken. I will not risk losing you." Erwin cupped her face and his features softened. "I keep thinking that that was you. Lying on the ground with blood seeping out of wounds. I can't have that happen." Erwin leaned forward anf pressed their forehead together. Roderia felt single tear slide down her cheek.

"She was my friend-"

"One that betrayed you."

"No! its not like that!" Roderia grabbed Erwins hands and held them tightly. "She loved me like a sister. She even said she could never hate me. And I Believe in her. Its true, she was deceiving, but I believe there was a reason behind it all." She saw Erwin clench his teeth tightly.

"Still, She Humiliated me-"

" I think she had to do that and I don't think she took joy in that." Roderia loosened her grip on his hands and put them on her cheeks. " Erwin,  don't think bad of my one and forever gone friend." Erwin softened his face. He leaned forward and kissed her lightly on the lips. Roderia tasted her own dried tears mixed with new ones. Their tongues tentatively intertwined with each others. Erwin pushed Roderia on her back, and he was on top of her. Roderia forgot everything and focused on Erwin. How good of a kisser he was, how she can run her hands up and down his abdomen. Everything was washed away, her pain and her tears, and slowly morphed into bliss and pleasure. Erwin had his hands running up and down her shirt.

The only thing though that didn't leave her was the image of Liesta lying dead on the floor.

That made Roderia push on Erwin's chest, and break the hot kiss between them.

"Erwin...I can't. Not now." She said. Erwin stopped altogether and looked at her. He nodded and got off of her and layed to the side.

"Then get rest and hope that tomorrow is a better day." He put his arm around Roderia, almost like a belt to keep her from going anywhere.

"But its not going to be, now is it." Roderia closed her eyes and relaxed on the bed. It felt wrong to her to kiss with Erwin when her friend just died.

"You never know. The world never is how it seems."
