ACT i

chapter seven; drive

my blood was boiling. i wasn't sure why, but i couldn't contain my anger from jax contos.

he spoke so highly of venus, but he barely knew her, and i knew guys like him, and that they only wanted to fuck a girl.

i knew venus didn't love him back, but his voice kept echoing in my mind.

"i love you venus cadalora."

his words ticked me off. i felt as though the only thing i could do was leave.

my body spoke before my mind as i took long and angry strides towards the door. i could hear venus' heels clacking against the marble floor of the cadalora house and i could hear her call out for me, but i kept going.

part of me felt guilty for leaving her, but if i made a scene, the situation would've worsened for both me and venus.

jax's words signified that he would be planning on staying for venus, thus ruining my chances with her.

"number hundred twelve." i handed the man at the front my card as he began to rummage through the racks of several different items.

"nice, uh, weapon." the gruff man passed me my holster before my gun.

"yeah, thanks." i nodded my head, hearing the door open from a little afar.

"mars!" her voice was strained.

i fought off the urge to turn around. i wanted to tell her that whatever we had planned was wrong, that she was supposed to be with jax and i was supposed to be with someone like annalise. no one would accept us as one. i could vividly remember titus' expression when he found out.

i was afraid if the wrong person found out. one of us executed and the other banished, both sent to different hells. i'd never wish that on venus.

i fumbled for the keys in my pocket as i unlocked the door, sliding in with one swift motion.

i flipped the ignition on along with the lights, just about to press down on the accelerator before i looked up to see venus with her hands slammed down on the hood of the car, the gold crown on the top of her head about to fall off.

"i'm not going to move unless we talk." venus shouted, her voice a little muffled.

"don't want to make a scene princess, but hop in if you really want to talk." i pushed my hair back, tossing the mask i had in the back.

i could see that her features were more relaxed before she got in. i then pressed down on the accelerator, quickly noticing that the pale girl was looking through the mirror.

"what are you looking at?" i asked, glancing between her and the road ahead.

"my mother, she looked mad." venus replied, looking down at her hands.
