chapter eighteen; walls could talk

i didn't know what i was doing. i was so stupid for going back.

alana and i sat in her car, a couple of yards away from the entrance of the kingdom; the city.

everyone i know is there. if i went back, then it's the end. i couldn't go back.

"are we going in?" alana asked.

"i don't know." i let out a dry response. my heart was racing. it was just all the adrenaline. mentally, i knew that i wasn't suppose to come back.

"look, it's not easy going back in. those guys over there are border patrol, and i'm sure that more of those assholes are hiding out somewhere, so it's your choice. i mean, who do you have that you need to visit?" alana explained as i but my lower lip.

mars.

"let's just go." i sighed.

i wanted to see mars, just to know that he was okay. i wanted to make sure that he wasn't mad at me, but it made me worried that i'd receive some backlash.

"why do you even want to go back? your best friend is dead and your family probably hates you." alana pointed out as i gritted my teeth.

i wanted to go back and see poppy and mars. i wanted to tell them that i didn't kill kala. i missed everyone, even my parents. alana had made some assumptions, but i don't think my family hates me. although kala is my closest friend, she wasn't my only friend.

"i have people there that need an explanation." i crosses my arms against my chest.

"yeah? well venus, i have people in there too." alana scoffed, turning the car around in the opposite direction.

the air was tense.

alana has insisted on helping me in my situation. she promised me that there was an apartment near her place. it was actually a loft, and it was comforting. i did miss my room though.

i didn't know if alana would help me set a business up. she claimed that we both have gone though the same difficulties of leaving the kingdoms, but that was our only similarity. i didn't know anything about her.

alana was a very closed off person. only few people spoke about her, but otherwise she was a stranger. it didn't make sense to why she'd help me.

"look, we both have people back there, but sometimes you've just got to move on. if you go back to the kingdoms, you're just going to die." alana explained, not looking away from the road.

i sighed, looking down at the floor of the
car.

"just go home." i sighed.

"just like that you-" she began to rant as i cut her off from whatever else she was about to say.

"fuck off alana." i scoffed.
