Chapter 4

'You look amazing, Laura.' Michael whispered. He wasn't bad himself, well actually, he wasn't bad at all.

'Thank you Michael.' I replied and kissed him on the cheek. 'Let's go now.' I grabbed his hand.

'Wait... I wanna give you something!' He said.

'Rio's present?' I teased him.

'Close your eyes and you'll find out!' he told me. I felt something cold in to my palm. 'Open them' he said afterwards.

'Oh my God, Michael it's perfect!' I said and kissed him. It was a golden bracelet with the M letter charm.

'Laura... I-I-I...'

'Hey guys! Come on! We are already late!' Selene interrupted.

'She is right Michael! We'll talk later!' I agreed.

Michael left and walked to the boys outside.

'Was something wrong? I felt your heart beating fast!' Selene whispered.

'Yeah! Look!' I told her and showed the bracelet.

'Aw! How romantic!' She said sarcastically.

'Shut up Sel!' I slapped her at her hip and walked rashly. She didn’t quiet believed me but I was going to deal with it later.

She laughed at me for a few minutes.

We reached the Great Hall. Of course the event had already started and the newcomers were already in. 

I felt eyes fixated on us. I wondered what was going on…

'It's ‘cause we look stunning!' Selene whispered and laughed.

'Stop reading my mind!' I told her irritated.

'I can't stay away from this genius's mind!' she laughed at me again for the 50th time today.

'Hay Laura! You look hot!' Jake shouted from behind. 'You're look nice too, Michael!' he turned to him. Michael growled angrily.

'I'm going to bring some drinks...' He said and left.

Jake grinned at him and hugged me.

'Thank you Jake! You look hot too!' I said.

'Whoa! Selene, is that you or Aphrodite?' he turned to Selene and bowed.

'How cheesy, Jake!' Selene laughed. 'Grow up!'

After a couple of minutes the headmaster made a speech. A long, long speech. I wasn't hearing a word and my eyes were wondering around the room. Everyone was very elegant and that silly-happy faces were all over the place. Definitely there were some hot-new students that have many potential.  

And somewhere in the room, there was the teachers' table. It was good to see them without their robes. Especially the younger ones. 

My eyes stopped to Mr. Logan. He was drinking from a glass and laughing with the other teachers quietly. We were not the only ones bored. He turned his head to my direction and caught me looking at him. He smiled. I blushed.

'Don't be guilty Laura! He is hot!' Selene whispered. I blushed again!

And then, it was time for dancing.

As I was dancing with Michael I saw with the tip of my eye Selene, laughing with Marcus. She seemed so happy. Her eyes were sparkling and her beauty was breathtaking. She looked at me too and smiled. She knew how much I loved her...

It was going to be a magical year, I thought. How ironic...

I wasn’t feeling like dancing tonight, I kept telling everyone that I was saving my energy for the party. But Jake didn’t bite it or simply didn’t care and dragged me on the dance floor, saying that we were going to be the hottest couple in the room. I was too busy to say no to him, cause my mind was somewhere else. I felt like someone was watching us, all the night long. I couldn't find who exactly, but I could feel his mind trying so hard to reach mine. I leaned to Jake, closed my eyes trying to concentrate. The loud music and his after save weren’t helpful at all.

'Hey, Jake?' I told him.

'Hmm?' he responded, hypnotized from some deep thought.

'My eyes are up here!' I told him, looking kind of pissed.

He blushed. It was probably the first time that Jake blushed. It was so quite funny.

'I think that it's my turn!' I heard Nate from behind me.

Jake let my hand and got lost in the crowd without saying anything more.

'I starting to believe that I'm some kind of your Angel, literally!' Nate laughed.

'You are Nate. But ehmm… Can I tell you something? I think that someone is watching us.' Suddenly I realized that it was the same feeling as the one my dreams, lately.

'Wait, I'm gonna scan the place for any black-coated men with black glasses!' he jokingly said.

'I'm serious!' I said and give him a playful punch. He straightened his face instantly.

'But… what do you mean? The stalking kind of way?' he asked and looked around.

'I don't know Nate...I have that permanent presence on my mind... It's following me everywhere!' even in my dreams, I continued the sentence in my head.

'But can't you understand who it is?' he was now worried.

'Look, I’m too tired and maybe that's it! Don't worry about it!' I said and dragged him to our table. We sat down.

'Come on Sel! You know that you can trust me...' he insisted.

'See... I have that dream that's torturing me these days and I'm always alarmed. Nothing special. And on the other side there are a lot of newcomers, lot of new minds in here and that makes me dizzy!' I replied.

'Are you sure about that?' he took my hand.

'I am babes! Look at Marcus and Laura now! They are hilarious dancing that Ai-se-u-te -ego song!' I told him as subject changing matter. 

When Laura looked at me, she ran to my direction and grabbed my hand.

'Easy tiger! What happened?' I said and followed her to the yard.

'What happened with you! You were dancing with Jake, then with Nate and you looked so confused. What’s going on?' she said.

'Nothing to worry about Laura!' I said casually. But she insisted.

'Is someone watching you?' she asked alarmed.

'Hey, no! Stop making things up, from nothing! Let's go have some fun and also drink something. It will help relax and you may drop out all this insanity.' I laughed.

In the way to Jake's room we commented on today's girls' appearances. It was a little thing that we did after those events.

I have been to Jake’s room one more time, so I knew the way. We were in a hurry, cause we weren’t supposed to be here.

'And where do you think you're going Ladies?' we heard a man’s voice from behind. We were screwed.

We turned and saw a teacher. I think it was Mister Logan. I pushed Laura. I didn't know him.

'Umm..' Laura straggled.

'We were just admiring the night Mister Logan. You know, feeling the air and stuff.' I said and I smiled.

Laura laughed and helped me.

'But you never saw us, right?' she asked. A little too bold L, I thought.

'Saw who?' he smiled and got lost in the woods. Thankfully he seemed to like bold moves.

We expired with relief, laughed and made some comments about his fine appearance. We finally got into Jake’s room.

It was time for party...
