Chapter Seventeen

"David what are you doing here?" the doctor asks sadly

"I woke up here, I've been here for about two days now. Its hard to remember exactly what happened, so could you just help me to remember?" David asks

"your father took control of the TARDIS, we were all trapped in a black box next to your dead mother, and Ruby... Ruby killed herself" the doctor says

David looked down at the ground with a frown on his face. When he looked back up he smiled lightly before walking closer to us "doctor, would you mind taking me to the bar where we met?" David asks

"no" the doctor answers "hop in"

David walks into the TARDIS with Rory behind him. The doctor looks at the weeping angel with sad eyes and gives her a small smile.

"it was nice seeing you again Angie, I promise to visit again soon" he says and a small smile as he pats her shoulder lightly

"I'm sure you will" she replies

The doctor and I walk into the TARDIS and all the others, except Rose and the other doctor standing around the console. The doctor doesn't speak as he trudges up the steps.

"doctor!" Rory calls

"I need some time alone" he shouts back and is soon out of sight.

It just now hits me, Ruby is dead and she will never be back. Nobody has bothered to comfort the doctor yet, even though he loved her. I feel the need to comfort him, but like he said, he needed some time alone.

I look at David who is talking to Mickey about Ruby. I decide to go and see rose and the new baby.

I find her in a room that's a nursery rocking her baby girl back and forth. When she sees me she smiles happily.

"hi" she says

"hello" I say and sit on the bed next to her

"do you have kids?" she asks

"I used to, she died a while ago. But she had a good life, she was conceived on the TARDIS and had TimeLord DNA in her, so she had the power to regenerate. She and the doctor were married, it was a wonderful wedding, on top of a pyramid before she killed him" I say with a smile

"sounds like a wonderful occasion" she says with a laugh as she looks down at her small baby "where's Ruby?" she asks

I feel a pang of guilt in my chest at the mention of her name "gone" I say

"gone?" Rose asks "what do you mean gone?"

"I mean..." I say "she stabbed herself in the heart to save the lives of the rest of us"

"oh god" Rose says with tears in her eyes "I need to see the doctor"

"he wants to be alone right now, he really loved her. I don't think it would be a gold idea to disturb him in the middle of his grieving process" I tell her

"you're probably right" she says with a frown "I liked her, she was nice"

"I liked her too, she saved my husbands life... twice" I say with a smile

"why did she kill herself?" Rose asks

"because..." I say "her father wanted to break her, so he showed her some of the worst memories she's ever had. I guess in the end she realized what he was planning to do if she didn't take her own life. She loved the doctor too much to let him and his friends suffer, so she broke"

"I'm glad I wasn't there to see that, it would have been awful" she says

"it was" I say "she kissed the doctor while she was crying, told him she was sorry and how much he loved her, then she took the knife out of her boot and stabbed it into her heart"
