P.O.V Jennifer
I pulled a plain, grey hoodie over my head finished buttoning my jeans up at the front. I tripped out of my room and slipped a pair of Converse onto my feet. I paced down the hall to find my mum in the kitchen making dinner.
"Mum, Im going to meet a friend. I'll only be at the coffee shop next to school" I panted flattening my hair at the front and then almost running out of the kitchen.
"Text me when you are on your way home, darling" Mum called out as I opened the door.
"Okay, I will do. Bye" I called back and slammed the door shut. Ben was just pulling up into the driveway as I quickly trundled down the path. I tried ignoring him but of course Ben had to be annoying and beep his horn at me.
"Where are you off too?" Ben laughed as he got out his car. I rolled my eyes and kept walking.
"I am meeting a friend" I replied angrily. Ben is so annoying, why cant he just stop being so evil to me like Blaine. I carried on walking towards the coffee shop. It only takes 10 minutes to get to the shop, so in no time I had arrived.
The coffee shop was old and vintage looking. The wooden tables were a red/brown colour and had coffee stains on them. The smell of caffeine from the tea and coffee wafted into the air constantly mixed with the smell of fresh cakes that were consistently being added to the front of the counter. I spotted Josh at the far side of the cafe and quickly joined him at his table. It wasn't hard to notice Josh, with his good looks and scruffy hair. Also, the small business was virtually empty. A few elderly people were scattered around, but that was about it.
"Hey, Jennifer" Josh greeted me with a charming smile as I sat down opposite him.
"Hi, Josh. How are you?" I said, beginning the small talk process. Josh shuffled in his seat uncomfortably and scratched his chin and up to his definite jawline.
"No, lets not small talk" Josh decided. "Tell me something about yourself"
"Uhh... Well, I guess I could say I was completely insane?" I giggled. Josh joined in and then quickly became serious again.
"No, seriously... Like whats your biggest secret?" Josh questioned. I thought about it for a while. It was a really tricky question, until the answer popped into my head.
"I am studying subjects that will help me become a doctor but I really want to be an actress" I sighed. It was true, becoming an actress has been my dream for a few years now. I kept it quiet from my parents, my brothers knew and they wanted to tell my parents but I begged for them not to do it. Obviously, my friends knew and now Josh.
"Why don't you do what you want to do?" Josh queried.
"My parents wouldn't like it" I laughed awkwardly. For some odd reason, I didn't know Josh but I felt I could tell him anything. This confused me because I didn't like him really, but there was a connection that I couldn't control between us.
"I understand. My parents, well my mum, is exactly the same" Josh exhaled and then stretched his arms out on the table.
"Its hard, but I guess we have to just keep going. As long as I'm trying to make my mum and dad happy, I don't mind" I said. Josh raised his eyebrows at my comment and tilted his head to the right, in a way that he looked sort of puzzled. "What?" I laughed.
"There is something really remarkable about you... And I cant quite put my finger on it"Josh whispered. I frowned in denial.
"There is nothing interesting about me Josh... I assure you" I mumbled, feeling embarrassed by his comment.
