P.O.V Josh
I peel my eyes open. The sun glaring directly through my window and onto myself and Jennifer pains my eyes. I feel Jennifer's soft, patterned breathing against my hand that lay across her chest. I need a drink of water desperately. The alcohol from last night had dehydrated my body. I don't want to disturb Jen though, so I wait for her to wake up.
After about ten minutes, Jennifer begins to stir in my arms. She lets small moaning sounds escape her lips as she tosses round to face me. She gradually opens her eyes and smiles when her gaze meets mine. I lean in to kiss her forehead.
"Good morning" I croak as she rubs her eyes. "You feeling okay?" I hesitate as I remember how much we had actually drunk last night at Liam's. I guess for Jennifer, we had drunk way too much anyway, as she is only just starting to consume alcohol.
"I have a really bad headache" Jennifer shakes her head before frowning at me. "Oh my god! You have a black eye, and your lip?! What happened Josh? Did I punch you in my sleep?" Jennifer asks millions of questions rapidly.
I stretch my arm up so I can feel my eye and lip. I notice how painful it is to touch my lip. A small lump marks the corner of my left eye. "No, that couldn't have been you... Wait, I remember now..." I drone guiltily. "I punched James and obviously he hit me back" I sighed as I jumped out of bed to look in the mirror.
My left eye is black and my bottom lip is bruised and has a cut on it, making it look very swollen. "Do you remember what happened?" I asked as I poked my wounds.
"I don't remember anything apart from us walking to and from the party... Oh and that we played spin the bottle" Jennifer recorded as she props herself up on one arm.
Suddenly, the sound of my bedroom door opening makes me jump. I jerk round and sigh as I realise its my mum. She enters holding a tray with toast and hot chocolate on it. She places it on my messy desk before frowning and shaking her head at me.
"Is your eye okay today?" My mum sighs as she struts over to sit on the edge of the bed. I notice Jennifer squirming and pulling the sheets up to cover her body.
"Yeah, it hurts to touch though. But, I cant remember what happened" I say as I touch it again, making me wince.
My mum jumps off the bed and walks towards me. She examines my wounds and nods in observation. "Well that's what happens when friends get jealous of one another" My mum tuts and scratches her head. I frown at her disapprovingly so she carries on. "You and James were fighting because James touched Jennifer or something" Mum dismisses, waving her hand in the air.
"Why were you fighting over me?" Jennifer asks as if the whole topic is stupid. Obviously, I know the answer to that, but I don't want to embarrass her in front of my mum. Especially because the words beautiful and smart would come up straight away.
"Jennifer, I'm sure every boy in school are dropping at your feet, and you don't even realise it" Mum states as she exits the room, leaving us in a confused silence.
I look over at Jennifer and notice her face is bright red. I stumble towards her, picking up the tray along the way. I slide onto the mattress and wait for her to tug the sheets up to my torso. I place the tray between us on top of the sheets and grab a piece of toast.
P.O.V Jennifer
I pull the jumper over my head and scrape my hair back into a loose bun. I wait for Josh to slide his shoes on before we leave to take me home. The day with Josh was boring but fun at the same time. We just watched movies all day long and ate popcorn. Josh's presence was what made the day fun though. I loved how he laughed at the most ridiculous parts of the movie and how he smiled at the cute, lovey-dovey sections.
