Chapter 5

Blake Michealson's Pov

"Sir you asked for me?" I stood in front of the old man's bed waiting for him to tell me what's so important that can't wait, practically forcing me to come here after I witnessed somebody lose their home in the fire.

He tossed his tablet at me to the edge of the bed, the screen showing a news article with a big bold headline. "What is this." He questioned.

POTENTAL SUCESSOR OF MICHEALSON ENTERPRISE ATTACKS BUSNIESS PARTNER. My eyes bulge out. What the fuck. It was from the scene just now when I punched Peter Evans at the club. Looks like they got a pretty good shot of me gripping his jacket and threatening him.

When I didn't answer he asked again, but this time louder. "Answer me Blake. What the hell were you doing at a club? And you punched Peter Evans? What have I thought you about emotions? You don't mix them up when you are doing business. It makes you weak. You're a disappoint Blake."

I winced at his last words. When has he ever been proud of anything that I have done anyway. I'm always the one who deemed weak and unworthy, no matter how hard I try to prove myself I will never be able to reach his standards. I clenched my fist to my sides, "I punched him because he crossed a line. I was helping a friend."

"Friend?" He laughed bitterly. "Since when did you ever have a friend Blake? Don't forget I was the one who raised you. I know you better than anyone. You always act on impulse. You are the one who puts yourself first among anybody else. You expect me to believe that you punched a guy because of a friend. Don't lie to me. You know how much I hate liars boy."

I clenched my fist harder to my side, my hands shaking slightly by my force. There's the word that I hate again. Boy. I took a deep breath, he is still the current owner of the company that I want. I need to explain him to this nicely so that it won't ruin my chances. "I brought a friend with me to the bar tonight to meet up with Mr. Evans. I'm guessing that you already know about his scandals and affections towards some beautiful ladies. He crossed a line when he was dancing with her and took the chance to assault her. I'll admit it was wrong for me to act on impulse but I couldn't just let him get away with it. I had to do something. I'm sorry father, I have disappointed you again." I lowered my head and apologized.

There. That's what he need and wants, for me to admit that I was wrong. I left out the part where her tears played a major part for me to act on impulse and that I was the one who dragged her in danger, possibly also the one who caused her home to burn down though. He wouldn't have believed me even if I said it anyway, he doesn't even believe that I have a friend. His not wrong though, she isn't my friend.

I don't know what reaction I was expecting from him but all I got was a firm nod. "I know about his behavior, but you should have never taken it personally and settled it with your fist. Do you know how much scandal you have caused? Those reporters are already writing that you have violent tendencies and that you are not fit to be in the business. You have successfully almost destroyed our reputation in the business world."

Hold on, almost destroyed? "Almost?" I asked.

"Yes almost. I managed to intercept the articles before it could be circulated. You are very lucky that I have some strings with those publishing companies and manage to buy their silence. Very lucky Blake." He stressed giving me a stern look. " I believe that you have a friend, and that what you were doing was for once selfless. Maybe you do have redeeming qualities." He added the last part softly.

I let the last part go but this wasn't what I have expected at all. He didn't threaten to take my place away from the company or continue to lecture me about compartmenting my emotions with working. He didn't even yell in my face about what I have done that could jeopardize the company name. What in the world has got to him? Is he possessed or taken over by aliens or something? Either way I am extremely glad that I got away scot-free except for a warning to never repeat this again.
