Chapter 18
Brooklyn's Pov
"Oh my god! There you are! I thought you weren't coming anymore." Rebecca came and hugged me as soon as I stepped through the door. "Didn't you say you wanted to take care of Blake? What happened?"
"The fever must have gone to his head because he agreed to let me come." I shrug. On the stupid condition that I need to wear something that he approves of and that I need to make it home by 12 in the morning.
She lets go of me and looks at me from up to down. "Why are you wearing like that? You did bring along your bikini to change right?"
What am I supposed to say? That a certain neurotic control freak demanded that I wear something that he deemed appropriate? "What's wrong with a vest, cardigan and shorts?"
"Nothing. It's just not that suitable for a pool party you know?" She gestures around the room full of people that are wearing with quite revealing clothes.
I shrug my shoulders, shaking the subject off. "Where's Zach?"
"He's in the kitchen playing shots."
"Brooklyn!" Zach comes almost running towards me, picking me up and swirling me around. "Hey guys! Brooklyn is in the house!" He announces loudly, raising my right hand. The whole room went wild, cheering.
"Happy Birthday Zach!" I said as I handed his present over to him, it was pretty last minute but for once I'm glad that I'm living together with the Michealson's. If it wasn't for one of the servants, I wouldn't be able to get his present on time.
"Thank you. What is it?" He shakes the black box around.
Smiling I shake my head at him. "I guess you have to open it after the party to find out."
"Fine by me." He beams. "Hey do you want to get some drinks? How about some Vodka?"
Right. That's rule number three. I'm not allowed to drink any alcohol. "No thanks I'm driving. But I'll take a cup of coke though."
He frowns. "Come on. What happened to the party girl who never says no to alcohol?"
"I need to drive myself home later, Sorry Zach."
"Come on one for the birthday boy?" Zach pouts at me.
I guess one or two cups won't hurt. Besides it's not like Blake is hEre anyway, how would he know if I took a sneaky drink? "Fine."
And just like that I started my one night of freedom. No problems, no Blake to control me, no nothing. I'm free just for one night.
I chatted happily with Rebecca at the pool side, enjoying my second glass of vodka.
"So any hot guys that caught you attention?"
"Quite a few actually, one guy even came up to me and asked for my number." She giggles happily. "We're going on a date later this week. What about you? How is Mr Rich Hottie treating you?"
"Honestly I really don't get him at all. One moment he is as cold as ice and the next his the warm, slightly charming guy who tries to flirt with me persistently."
A big grin appears on her face. "Flirt with you? I take that the both of you are on good terms now? Or else you wouldn't want to skip Zach's birthday party so that you can take care of him. Am I sensing a romance brewing?"
"Nope. Although I have to admit he looks really hot and charming." I smiled a small smile, a mental image of him working out on the salmon ladder flashes through my mind. "But he his temper ruins it all."
