Chapter 19

Brooklyn's Pov

Ouch!

I squint at the bombardment of light that's hammering at my sensitive eyes and snap them shut again. Oh, that hurts. My eyes fly open, and I sit up. Oh, ouch!

"Morning sunshine."

I know that voice all too well. Why is he here right now. "Leave me alone."

"How are we feeling this lovely morning?" His voice is smug and I could slap him from that. He is taking pleasure in my pain.

Wait does that sound wrong?

Mustering all my might I glared at him. "A little hung over, but I'll survive."

"Thought you might say that." Blake walks over to my side table, coming back with a glass in his hand. "Here drink some water."

I reach to take it from him, but my arms won't liaise with my brain. Without a word, he's hand moves to lift the glass to my lips. My eyes flicker to him, he nods, a silent gesture to ask me to drink. I downed the whole lot.

"More?"

I shake my head. "Why are you in my room?"

He sets the cup back on the table and leans at the wall opposite at me. "You took care of me yesterday when I was sick. Figured I return the favor."

Oh. "What do you remember from yesterday?" He asks.

A fast forward version of yesterday events passes through my head. "I remember you letting me go to the party, having fun with Rebecca and Zach." I noticed that his lips formed a straight line when I mention about Zach. "Then I remember falling into the pool and you came to save me, everything after that is just blurry."

"That's the only thing you remember?" He raises his eyebrows. "Do you remember how you ended up falling into the pool?"

"No." I lied. "I must have slip and fell."

There is no way I'm going to remind Blake what happened between Zach and me. That will only just ruin his mood and send him into rage mode.

"Nothing at all after that?"

"Nope. Why?" He's eyes are looking at me intently, trying to search for something. I have no clue what.

I try to stand up from my bed, almost falling flat on my face when a sudden head rush hits me. Blake grabs me within an instant, steadying me by the arm. "Careful. Do I always have to be your knight in shining armor?"

"Never really pictured you as my knight, besides I'm not a damsel in distress. I can take care of myself." I pulled my hand back from him. "Thanks for the water and taking care of me last night."

"That's all you're telling me?" He says disbelieving me. "After I saved you from drowning, took care of you during and after the party, not to mention staying with you the whole night just to make sure you are okay! That is all you you're telling me?"

Shocked, I took a step back from him. He stayed here with me the whole night just to make sure I was okay? "I didn't know." I said softly.

"Of course you didn't know! You probably didn't know how worried I was when you didn't wake up yesterday! I was even worried that somehow during your sleep something would go wrong!"

"Why?"

"Because I don't fucking know!" He yells and leaves the room, slamming the door shut, the vase by my door shaking after that.
