Chapter 10
Blake Michealson's Pov
"I need your help."
Maya was relaxing by the rooftop pool, tanning herself while she drew something in her sketchbook. "Hello to you too." She said, not even bothering to look up from her sketchbook or take off her shades to talk to me. "I knew you would come find me for help soon. Although I did bet on 2 hours later and here you are now, early. What happened?"
"Our sweet brother Nicholas happened. He challenged me to a fight and basically declared war on who is going to win over Brooklyn."
She finally dropped the book down from her hand and lifted up her shades. "No surprise there. But he did seem to be acting funny today."
"That's because he was drinking. Did you know that he also hired somebody to kill of Brooklyn?" Taking a seat at the lounge chair beside her, I told her the big news.
"What?! Are you serious?"
"Positive. It is official. Our brother has turned into a psychopath, he is willing to kill to get what he wants. That's why I need your help. I really don't know how far he is willing to go to get Brooklyn."
Maya still gave me the look of disbelief. "Are you sure that our brother Nicholas Gabriel Michealson, plotted to kill somebody for the sake of money?"
I rolled my eyes at her, "Of course I can. We are the Michealsons after all. Cold-hearted demons that would do anything for money. Once we want something we get it, by hook or by crook. That's what the old man has been teaching us since the day we were born."
"Okay, so we can't underestimate him. We need to play this smarter than him. What's your plan?"
"My plan is simple. I'm going to win over Brooklyn's heart and then marry her. Like you said, once I get the money, I'll throw her away like a used pair of shoes." I said it out casually filled with confidence.
"And how do you plan to do that? She isn't some easy girl to win over you know."
I poured myself a glass of wine from the side of the table and then took a swig. "How hard can it be? She is a girl after all. Take her out on dates, give her flowers, chocolates, gifts, say some sweet sappy words to her like all those fancy things the boy says in the romance movies and stuff. I'm sure she will fall in love with me within the shortest time."
Maya chuckles and shakes her head at me as if I said something funny and hard to believe. "What are you laughing at?"
"I'm laughing at you. You really don't know anything about a girl do you. Don't you think that if you suddenly treat Brooklyn so nicely and good, she would start to get suspicious of your motive? Girls are like puppies, they might be cute and seem like it's easy to take care of but the truth is they are anything but. One wrong move and if you make her unhappy, she will bite you right back in the ass. Even if you put a ball in front of the puppy, she won't even give it a second glance. What you need to do is take the ball and trick her into playing it with you."
Taking another glass of wine, I tried to comprehend what she was saying. She does have a good point. It's not like I treated her very kindly when we first met, if I change my attitude towards her right now, she would get suspicious. "What should I do then?"
"You should be yourself but slowly cut out all of the bad qualities which I have to say is a lot. Let's start with your cold-heartedness and arrogance. Girls won't appreciate that, especially Brooklyn. Step by step Blake, you need to start out small so we won't raise her suspicion and gain her trust at the same time." She raised her glass to me, and I returned it, our glass clinking together.
