Chapter 20
Brooklyn Grayson's Pov
"Brooklyn you're boyfriend is here." Victoria called out for me when I'm halfway packing up my stuff.
Boyfriend? Is it him? Is he even qualified to call himself as my boyfriend? I thought just this morning we were not on speaking terms. Now he's come to pick me up and called himself as my boyfriend? Fantastic. How much more can he mess up my mind?
I smile at her, swinging my bag over my shoulders. "Thanks." I really don't know what else to say.
"Don't forget about the charity event we will be having tomorrow." Zach pops his head up through the divider between our tables.
Oh right. The Charity event for the children who are diagnosed with special diseases. Damn Blake Michealson and his ability to make me forget about important things. "I'll be there. See you tomorrow guys."
"See you!" They both said in unison.
I don't know what was I expecting but I definitely wasn't expecting for him to be standing right outside the hospital's main entrance, leaning on the hood of his car with his arm folded. He's wearing a checkered t-shirt and a pair of jeans, looking really good but.......
"Nicholas why are you here?" I asked shock. He's really good looking but he just wasn't him.
"I'm here to pick you up after you finish work. Didn't I tell you that this morning?"
"Oh." I couldn't even try to hide the disappointment from my voice. "Let's go then." Looks like nothing's changed then.
Nicholas studies me carefully. "Are you okay? Did something happen to you at work today or something?"
"Nothing, I'm just tired that's all." I force a smile to my face, getting in to the side of the car myself so I can avoid talking about it.
He doesn't question me further and gets into the driver seat, driving off steadily to the road, the total opposite of his brother. Why am I still thinking about him at the time like this. My mind zones out to the passing lights, my brain spinning with questions that I'm quite sure will never be answered. One of it is clearly about what is going on between me and Blake?
It's only when Nicholas passes through the exit that leads to his place when I finally lifted my head from the window. I turn to face and ask him. "The road home is that way. Where are we going?"
Nicholas turns to me and gives me a small evil smirk. "We're going for dinner. I hope you like pasta because that's what we're having tonight."
"Why can't we eat back home?"
"I figured waiting for the weekend to go on a date with you is way too long. So I took my chances and decided to bring you out for dinner tonight."
Oh boy. How am I suppose to break it to him that I don't really want to go out with him? I only treat him as a friend and nothing more. I really don't have the heart to break it to him, he seems so nice and kind.
So instead I smiled at him and agreed. "Okay let's go."
"Perfect." Nicholas beams.
Not long after we reached a fancy looking Italian restaurant. "Come on." He opens the door for me and takes his hand out in front of me to help me out like a gentleman. I hesitated for a split second by takes it anyway. I can't keep comparing him to Blake, it's not fair for him. It's not fair for me.
Pulling out a chair for me, he waits for me to tuck in before he goes to sit down himself. "May I?" He asks, nodding at the menu.
I put the menu down and smile at him. "Go for it."
