I jolted out of bed from a screeching sound roaring from my phone. It was 2:30 a.m, and it was utter darkness besides the light now protruding from my cell phone. The thing is, it wasn't my ringtone. In fact, my phone was dead. And who's bed was this?
I sat on the bed, wearily extending my arm into the eerie light and grasping my phone. It still blared its horrid, off-tune rhyme as I slide the unlock button and held it to my ear.
"Hello?..." I question quietly.
No answer.
"Uhm... Hello? Who is this? It's a bit early for prank calling..." I murmured and rubbed my red, tired eyes.
Still, sheer silence.
"I'm hanging-"
I was interrupted by a blood curdling scream that caused me to drop my phone and fall back onto the wall beside my bed. It wasn't human at all. It sounded like some sort of... Demon? No. Worse. Much, much worse.
A tear escaped my eye lid as I coward in fear; suddenly, two arms wrapped around my waist which caused me to scream and kick.
"Shhhh, shhh." The arms started rocking me. "It's all going to be alright. Just go to sleep."
I sighed a little as I recognized the voice as Jeff's, but grew a little more fearful as I heard those three, famous words. -go to sleep.
Why was I so frightened of Jeff as well? Whatever that call was about, it messed up my brain.
"G-get off me!" I said with fear laced in my cracking voice.
I couldn't see in the darkness, but I knew what his face must have looked like right now. Confused. Angry. Maybe he'd kill me for pushing him away.
His grip on my waist loosened.
"Amelia." He grunted.
"Just... Just don't touch me right now."
He must've been angry because he let go after a few moments and jumped out the window behind my bed.
I sighed.
Who was that person-thing who called? What if Jeff knew them? But I couldn't possibly ask him because he wouldn't tell me anyway. Since we first met he's always been quite secretive; and it's not like I expected him to open up to him. Even though he'd kiss me from time to time, he still had secrets hidden within him. I wanted to know.
I fell back asleep an hour after the strange call I received and woke up around 11 a.m to a sweet smell from downstairs.
Wide awake and hungry as hell, I started to walk downstairs, following the scent.
"Good morning, Amelia. How did you sleep?" He question while cooking something in a pan on the stove.
"Smells good!" I smiled.
"It's your favorite breakfast, that sweet omelet thing..." He said, obviously forgetting the name.
"Tamagoyaki, dork. But how'd you know?" I questioned, walking up to him and kissing his cheek, assuming it'd be alright. He didn't act badly to my action, so I felt relieved.
"The notes on your phone thing, I saw you typing it one day."
Shit. I can't let him be near my phone anymore...
"Oh, heheh..."
"What are you hiding from me?"
"N-nothing..." The tone of his voice was frightening.
"Liar!" His voice raised from happy to pissed.
"It's really nothing, Jeff. I'm sorry it seemed otherwise..."
"Whatever" he grunted while finishing my food and stuffing his face with peanut butter. Again, his mood lightened as if it never even happened.
I was glad. I didn't want to tell him anything that would disrupt our peace.
