I passed out again. This time, however, I was conscious of it. I dreamt of being in a cold, bleak world, but it was beautiful. Snow covered the forest floor, making the ever green trees with light brown pine cones and vibrant red berries gleam in its dreary surroundings; it was frigid, but laying in the blanket of snow was more warming then moving. So I laid there, motionless. I knew it was a dream, but It felt so real. I didn't want to get up or leave. The howling wind was quite enough company for my soiled soul, even enough to keep me from going insane.
Echoes began to break the silence, I didn't fear them, I rather despised them. How dare these noises disturb the bliss I was blessed with entering? I assumed they would cease to boom in my purple, numb ears soon, but as hours passed, they only grew louder. None of then sounded liked words. Just sorrowful mumbles and wails of despair. "Just leave" I thought, too numb to feel my lips.
The grey sky never faded its dull grey, but I could almost feel the time passing. I knew it had been a few days; a few days of listening to these painfully loud whispers that spoke of nothing to my comprehension. I hated this. I should've been dead by lack of food or hypothermia. But my body seemed to endure it more than my mental state of mind. I wanted to leave this winter paradise. I wanted to escape these excruciating murmurs.
I awake with Jeff's face less than an inch from mine, his eyes glued onto me. He jolted up, feeling my head and sighing.
"You're alive..." He said, picking up my lifeless body and holding it in a tight embrace. His warm breath tickled my neck, causing the little hairs to stand at attention.
"Of course I'm alive. I just went to bed, silly."
A concerned look paralyzed his face as he lightened his grip and fixated his eyes in mine.
"Amelia, you've been asleep for a week. You passed out right after waking up."
My mouth dropped. I thought I was just in a simple dream. I mean, having dreams that feel long are normal, I had long dreams since I was a child.
"From now on, you need to take it easy. I want you to stay in bed and rest today. Ill being up food, but after that, you need to sleep." Jeff moved the hair from my face and tucked it behind my ears and stood up.
"But I've slept for a week!"
He only gave me a worrisome look, and continued out the door, then back in with a small green apple, a big glass of water and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
"Thank you, Jeff."
"Please eat. I will stay with you right here. I'm not going anywhere." He kisses my lips and helped me finish my food and tucked me into bed.
