"You'll be fine."
Chris had come over to Dan's house because Dan's nerves were going haywire. His brain was conjuring up more questions than anyone could answer and his heart was screaming. Every time he thought about Phil his breath would leave him and he would be left completely empty while still feeling completely full.
Sometimes the only image his mind could see would be those azure eyes. And sometimes the only word his mouth could form would be "Phil." It was the only name that was tangled within his soul. The only person that had every key to every door Dan had shut to keep everyone out. Phil was so necessary to Dan's being that it could almost be classified as toxic. And to think it all started with one wrong number.
"But what if it won't be fine, Chris?" Dan asks furiously. "What if I screw all of this up? Or what if there was never a this and it was all a joke? Huh? Or what if he actually does like me?"
"You won't know if you don't go," Chris shrugs while flopping onto Dan's bed.
"I hate you," Dan sighs and sits on top of Chris's feet.
"Ouch!" Chris kicks Dan once his feet are free from their temporary prison. "Hey, if this goes well we could go on a triple date."
"Oh fuck you," Dan laughs while hitting Chris with a pillow.
"Hey, save that for Phil," Chris winks before running out of Dan's room. Dan glares in the direction Chris ran before following him downstairs. Just as he makes it down the last step his doorbell rings and he knows exactly who it is. He freezes for a moment and just as he's about to run back up the stairs it's too late.
"Dan's right over there," he heard Chris say before rushing into the nearest bathroom.
"Good luck," Chris whispers before making his way into Dan's kitchen to raid his fridge.
"Dan?" Phil knocks on the bathroom door.
"We're going to have to make a raincheck. I'm not feeling too good," Dan calls from inside the bathroom. "Sorry."
"We can stay in tonight. I brought movies and popcorn just in case you didn't want to go out," Phil shrugs while sitting against the bathroom door.
"I think I might be contagious," Dan coughs.
"I can make you some soup if that would help," Phil crosses his legs and leans his head on his hand.
"No... you don't have to," Dan sighs. Phil hears some shuffling before he's lying flat on his back. Dan had opened the door while he was leaning on it.
"Ouch," Phil groans before getting up.
"I'll come with you," Dan looks up (a/n yeah i know dan is taller shush i can still dream) at Phil through his eyelashes.
"You sure? I don't want you to get any sicker," Phil questions with one eyebrow raising slightly.
"I'm fine," Dan brushes himself off while walking past Phil towards the door. "Let's get going, Lester." A smile dominates Phil's face as he follows closely behind Dan.
"Don't burn my house down, Chris!" Dan yells towards the kitchen.
"You two crazy kids have fun!" Chris calls back right before Phil shuts the door behind them.
"Where to first?" Dan asks while hopping into Phil's passenger seat.
"Like all cliché dates, it's a surprise," Phil turns on the car with a smirk.
Dan shakes his head jokingly, "I thought you were better than that."
"Well," Phil starts driving away. "I guess you were wrong."
