CHAPTER 5

"Where has she gone?". " God that girl is a pain in the neck, Elizabeth said while pacing around ". " can you stop pacing around beth,Kent said."she will come home, I know that for sure Kent said, trying to reassure his wife.

"Am home, Sasha said". Mum and dad where are you all,Sasha called out. " oh thank God, beth said with anger". You have finally come home. Where have you been?I was so anxious and scared that you may have been kidnapped, Elizabeth said while shaking Sasha.

" where have you been? Answer me,Elizabeth shouted. Mum i-i-i,Sasha said while stammering. "I said answer me,beth shouted louder this time". Mum I went to see Aaric, he is sick and didn't come to school. So i decided to go see him,Sasha said.

" wow! So you went to see that peasant boy,Elizabeth said,spitefully. Of all the people to see, you choose him. A poor gardener's son. Common! Sasha you are higher than him. He is a nobody, but you are the daughter of someone.
"From today onwards,I don't want to ever see you with him,ever Sasha,ever,Elizabeth said with anger.

" mum! Aaric is my friend, well my best friend. He may be a year older than me,but he is the only true friend I have." Am sorry but I won't stop seeing him"

"You must stop seeing him and ruining our reputation. I don't want to ever see you with him. I tolerated him in this house during your birthday, but not ever again. "Elizabeth my love, Kent said, please calm down".

" mum I won't leave my friend for no reason, Sasha said. Oh really,beth said. Alright don't. Before Sasha could say another word, she is slapped by her mum twice turning her cheeks red. "Elizabeth! how dare you slap my daughter", Kent retorted.
"She is not only your daughter Kent. I also have the right to discipline her,Elizabeth said".

" Elizabeth drags Sasha's hands, holding it tightly she says: Sasha, you are a stone,daughter of the best farmers who delivers fresh fruits and vegetables to all rich people in and outside our town. Please! Don't tarnish our image and reputation by mixing with a poor boy. Your father and I have worked a lot to build our reputation. Let that sink in to your head Sasha".

" letting go of Sasha's hand Elizabeth goes to the kitchen leaving Sasha and her dad in the sitting room."dad why is mum Always punish me? Sasha asked while cleaning her face of the tears".

"Sweety!" Your mum is only correcting you. She loves you so much that's why she corrects you, Kent said before hugging his daughter".

Kent is becoming concerned about how Elizabeth is treating their daughter. She has become harsh,high handled and abusive towards Sasha. Thinking to himself, "I need to stop beth from abusing my child all in the name of discipline".
