*ringing of an alarm*

'Not that noise again! It feels like I haven't even slept for one hour. That can't be possible!' I think to myself after hearing the alarm on my phone. I grab the phone from my bedside table try to focus on the screen and finally after a few seconds I'm able to work out the numbers.

"4pm already?" I mutter.

With all my strength I try to get out of the bed and walk towards my window to open the curtains.

"Another day of rain and darkness in my favorite town," I say while watching the raindrops splatter over the street in front of my apartment.

I walk to my small kitchen and start to boil a kettle of black tea, which I definitely need. My eyes wander around my room and I notice the mess that I caused yesterday arriving after work.

'I can't wait to clean this all up and then go to work again.' I thought to myself while thinking about my boring life.

Finally, my tea is ready and I walk back to my bed, grab my laptop and click on a folder...the unfinished book I have been working on for almost a year now. My career, my life, my everything and still after reading it every single day over and over again, it was the worst book I have ever read. Sometimes I just think about giving up my dream to become a writer and spend the rest of my life working in that bar and handing out drinks to drunken fools. At least I would finally have the time to go out and make some friends, so I wouldn't be locked up in this small apartment the whole day. The problem is I need this book to work because if I fail I don't know if it's possible to live on the amount of money I'm living on now forever. I mean most of the money I earn during my working nights is for paying the bills, the rest I need for food. And believe me, London is just getting more and more expensive every single day.

So, what do I do? I just continue with my book and hope for the best. And perhaps one day I can finally live the life I always dreamt about. What is my book about? To be honest I don't even know. It started a year ago when the same horrifying dream appeared to me every single night.

I wake up in a dark, cold and wet cave. I rub my hands together to get a bit of warmth, but it isn't working. A shiver runs down my spine, while I hear strong and heavy footsteps walk in my direction. A creature in flames comes towards me, but I can't escape it. It's not possible for me to move, I'm stuck sitting on that cold floor. The creature grabs me and throws me against a hard stone wall. I scream out in pain and it just doesn't stop to hurt. It's not like in a normal dream...it feels like I'm really there. When I'm finally able to open up my eyes I see the most beautiful golden city I have ever seen in my whole life. I see images of people smiling and cheering and a throne where someone sits upon. I'm not really able to make out his features, but it looks like the people admire him. There are other figures, important ones, that just appear a few seconds in front of me. During those few minutes of the dream, I at least feel happiness and love, something so strong I can't really describe. Suddenly without a warning, the town bursts out in flames and the horrid creature appears behind it. I hear the screams of the people burning in the flames. After seeing everything being burned it's my turn to go down with the city.  I start to scream and then everything turns black.

I wake up. I have never experienced such a vivid dream and dreaming it for over half a year made it impossible for me to get any rest. So, I thought about writing a book about it. About the town, the creature and everything I have seen in the dream and put my own story to it. And that's what I did, but still, there were some pieces I just couldn't piece together as if someone didn't want me to.

After going through this experience every single day, I finally found a solution to prevent this horrible dream. Alcohol! And a lot of it every night before going to sleep. I know that it isn't the best thing to do to my body, but it saves me from this horror.  A dream that I don't want to relive again. I don't know why it works, but it does so I keep doing it every single day. Of course, I have a headache every morning, but I am getting used to it.

Now the most mysterious part about it is that it felt so real. Some nights I woke up and found my back covered in bruises without any explanation. It was like I was really thrown against the cold, dark stonewall in the cave, but after finding the alcohol as a cure I didn't think about the topic of the bruises anymore and made up a logical story. I was so caught up in the dream that I fell from my bed and hit the floor. Explanation solved.

After editing a few chapters of the book I finally decided to turn off my laptop and to clean up my room, which is looking like a complete mess.
