A/N: This song has 2% to do with the chapter, it's just a vibe and got me through a lot of this bulk drop. Enjoy!
A Few Days Later
(Dee POV)
Dee checks her recent notification, hesitating when she sees Latto's name. She checks the message, trying to maintain a positive attitude when she sees it. It reads: Hey boo, don't forget about my NYE party. You can bring whoever. And come see me before, we gotta catch up.
She sighs, turning her music up louder as the bus continues to her destination, not ready to respond just yet. She stares at the passing scenery as the ride continues, trying to find a response. After a few minutes, she does, simply typing, K. Dry ass k.
She chuckles, forming a better response as the bus come to a stop. She looks around, double checking the time and sighing. How far away is this bitch? She sighs as the bus continues, thankful that it's is still pretty empty and she can have the seat to herself.

Dee accepts her ticket back with a smile and pushes through the tall doors of the civic center. She chuckles, taking in the groups of people standing around with glasses, remotes and small robotics. Nerd alert.
She spies a boy racing through the crowd with Don's school colors and can't help but smile. 'Do you need help finding your seat, ma'am?' an attendant asks with a smile. 'Nah, I'm good, thank you though,' she replies.
After double checking her messages, she makes the trek to her section, scanning the crowd for Don's family. She spies Dezzie and smiles, walking toward them. 'Hey, Mr. Evans,' she greets sticking out her hand. He smiles, pulling Dee into a hug instead.
'Good to see you, Dee,' he says and she smiles. 'Good to see you too.' 'Diamond,' Dezzie says, tugging on the hem of her jacket. Dezzie puts her hands in the air and Dee laughs, picking her up. 'Hey, Dani,' Dee says but she gets no response. Still a lor bi--no, chill.
She sighs, turning her attention to Daisy, pinching her cheeks. 'Hey Daisy Dukes!' she squeals, earning a toothless smile in return. 'You know you could have ridden with us, Dee,' he says, stepping out of the way to make room for her and Dezzie.
'It's fine,' she replies, taking a seat. 'I needed some alone time anyway.' 'School getting to you?' he questions, letting Daisy face her. 'School, music, life,' she lists. 'Everything really.' They share a small laugh. 'Well, I'm glad you came, I'm sure JR will be too.' She nods. I hope so.
Dezzie call for her attention, talking her ear off about her letter to Santa being sent late when she hears Mr. Evans greet someone else. She turns to see Anna and freezes, looking away quickly. ShitShitShit. No, okay, deep breath, you don't know what happened, play it cool, be normal.
She tries to tune out their conversation, nodding intermittently as Dezzie continues. 'Hey boo!' Anna exclaims, finally greeting Dani. Dani smiles widely, hugging her tightly as they talked in hushed tones.
She watches them and grimaces, knowing that she'll have to find a seat near her in the packed row. FUCK man! She knows I like him, I mean I did like him, I mean I do like him? Ugh, shit. 'You wanna go see Anna, Dezzie?' she asks, trying to find a way out to gather her thoughts. Dezzie shakes her head, 'I wan' stay with you.'
