Chapter 29- Goodbyes

We lay in bed; our bodies entangled in the white linen sheets. Today is the day Harry leaves for L.A. Today is the day we say our goodbyes.

"Thank you," he says twirling a piece of my hair through his fingers.

"For what?"

"Loving me back."

"It wasn't all that hard to do." I grin.

"You want to know the very first moment I realized I was in love with you?"

"When?"

"When we were laying in your bed the one time; just like we are now... and you read poetry to me until I fell asleep." his thumb moves in small circles along my cheekbone. "I was scared shitless."

I smile. "I was too."

"And when did you realize you loved me?"

"On the night of our first date. It was like I hit a brick wall. Obviously, I tried to deny it at first because I thought it seemed almost impossible for a guy to come along and fall for a girl like me. But you did. And I was fixed. You fixed me, Harry. And I love you so much."

He rolls over and kisses me passionately, but the moment immediately ends when he says, "It's time."

I sigh. "I know. I know."

We roll out of bed and get dressed. Harry's bags are already packed and he picks them up at the door on the way out.

I leave a small note on the fridge letting my parents know I'm dropping Harry off at the airport just in case one of them comes home early.

I play my Twenty One Pilots CD all the way to Atlanta which has the only airport in all of Georgia.

"You said goodbye to Gemma and your mom, right?"

"Yeah..."

"Did they cry?"

"My mom did. Gemma was holding her tears back."

I nod. "So what's your first move when you get to L.A.?"

"Get a job. Get an apartment with a roommate. Start doing little gigs here and there and hire some guys to help out with the drums and guitars."

"It seems like you have it all figured out."

"I do. Hopefully, it all just works out." he murmurs.

A while passes before I pull into the airport terminals. "We're here. What's your airline?"

"American Airlines."

"Okay, it should be around- Oh, right there." I park in front of the door and turn off the ignition.

Taking a deep breath, I face Harry. "This is it."

"This is it." He repeats.

"I'll help you with the bags." I swing the car door open and open up the trunk. I hand him his bags and then walk up beside him to the door. "I guess this is goodbye."

He shakes his head, leaning into me and kisses my forehead. "Until next time."

"Until next time." I repeat and go on the top of my toes to kiss him on the lips gently.

I watch as he turns away from me and walks into the airport. That's it. Just like that, a person who means so much to you can leave.

And sometimes, they don't want to leave, but they do anyways because it's for something better. Like in this case.

I turn away myself with tears already swimming down my face when I hear, "Lana!"

I turn around and see Harry, almost out of breath and he is holding a pen in his hands. He walks over to me slowly, grabs my hand, places a pen in my palm and closes my knuckles around it.

"Write about me sometime, Miss Grey."

And those were the last words Harry told me before he flew off to L.A.
