Chapter Sixteen- Label
I end up going to the gym after school because I have nothing else better to do so I might as well let go of my anger.
I wrap my hands tightly, but not too tightly nor loose. Pete directs me to the heavy bag where he teaches me the straight cross.
When he leaves, I stay and punch out the stress and even when my knuckles begin to ache, I continue on. Cara might have done it. Maybe even Isan helped her out.
I punch harder.
Maybe Jonathan did it.
Another punch.
My arms are so sore after the gym, I can hardly lift up my bag that holds one too many things. I drive home and notice Harry's car in the driveway. What the hell? I park my car next to his and rush inside once I hear the sound of glass breaking.
"Why?!" I hear Harry yell and I walk in to see my dad cornered in a wall, with his hands up and Harry is doing nothing, but yelling.
"Harry!" I pull him away from my dad.
"Did you know your father is fucking my mom?!" he yells again and he has something in his eyes I've never seen before and I don't like it. I don't like it at all.
I look to my dad and he looks both sympathetic and apologetic, but he brought this upon himself in all ways. He is still my dad though and I won't let Harry hurt him. "Harry, go outside."
"No." he crosses his arms over his chest and walks into the kitchen, taking a seat at the table. "I say we wait for your mother to get home." There's liquor on his breath. He's drunk.
"Harry, get outside!"
"Or what?" He scoffs.
My father walks in. "Should I call the cops?"
"Call the cops! Make a scene and this whole neighborhood will know you're a lying, cheating scumbag." Harry exclaims.
"Your mother-"
"Don't talk about my mother! Because while she's fucking you, she's fucking our neighbor Charles and our other neighbor, Will and while you're fucking her, you're also fucking your wife!" he laughs breathlessly. "I mean, something is wrong here!"
"Harry-"
"And you!" he gets onto his feet, pointing to me. "You should be on my side! You're the whole reason I am as pissed off as I am! I hate it when people hurt you!"
"Please just come outside. All right? Please." I beg. I don't want my family to be any worse than it is now. I don't think I will be able to handle it. "Please, Harry."
He presses his lips together in a frown, but then agrees to go outside. As he passes by my dad, he gives him a cold, dead stare before following me outside.
"Can you believe this?" he says as soon as we're out the house.
"How did you find out?"
He stumbles back; as if he had just been slapped by someone. "Wait. You knew that it was my mother your dad was having an affair with and you didn't tell me?"
I sigh, frustrated. "Yes. I'm sorry. I just didn't want any trouble-"
"You're suppose to tell me this kind of shit, Lana!"
"You just came out of a coma, Harry! Was the first thing you wanted to hear as soon as you came out of a freaking coma is 'Hey, your mom and my dad are having sex!'? I don't think so!"
