SPIRIT WEEK CAME BY too fast, much to my dismay. I hated it in Ontario, and I'll hate it again here. I couldn't find the "fun" in Spirit week since it was a week of absolutely no classes—I don't mind that too much—and everyone has to worship the football team. The team in this school wasn't too bad, because well, I didn't know a lot of them, but they weren't exactly douche-bags. I only hated the idea to dress up as what the day had described to be.
But I get points for participating, and that'll affect my permanent record in some way.
The first day was Disney. I chose the easy route and went as the daughter from the Incredibles, using the excuse that I was invisible so no one would talk to me. Of course it didn't work with Daniel. I'm even sure what he was dressed up as, but he kept protesting and repeating what he tried to accomplish.
"I'm Peter Pan!" He exclaimed, "Do you not see it in the green beanie and green shirt?" He gestured to his outfit in frustration. "I'm a modern day Peter Pan, my dear Logan."
I casted my eyes up and down him, bluntly saying, "Still don't see it." He decided to let me be, and I bit down on my lip to keep from smiling because his costume was obvious, I just didn't want him to know that. It was funny watching such a happy guy get frustrated over a small thing.
He and I walked to the fields—like I said, no classes. Most of the time people would ditch and go out with their friends after they've proven they had attended school, but because Daniel and I had nothing else to do, we stayed at the school until lunch and then we would ditch.
The fields were filled with people in costumes, either taking pictures or contributing in school activities. I hadn't seen Blaire so far, and I intend on keeping it that way. "I find it weird that they still have to practice here," I said out loud, leaning against the tree. "Can't they—I don't know—rent out a sport's club or something."
"You must really hate them, huh?" Daniel stated the obvious, earning a glare from me. "Logan, they're just practicing, and plus, no one's bugging us so I don't see why it matters."
"Their faces annoy me," I grumbled childishly. "Oh look, there's the princess now." I glared at Blaire as she approached Wesley when he had stopped practice for a break. It's funny how they are still together, despite the reason she chased after him was because she thought she'd have some leverage against me. It's been a little over two years and this could be the longest either of them have been in a relationship.
"Are you sure you don't have feelings for him?"
I snapped my head to him, my face etched with confusion and irritation at the question. "I've never liked anyone after him, and even when I liked him it was all for his looks, why are you asking?"
He simply shrugged, "You seem jealous."
"Jealous of what? Blaire being with Wesley? Daniel, do you know how stupid that sounds?" I snapped. "Why would I even be jealous? I have the things I need and she's simply in a relationship with a dude."
"I'm sorry, I've just... never met a girl that didn't get jealous over something like this," he admitted, "I've heard many girls complain and saying that their crushes are assholes for dating someone else and not them, and honestly, even with guys in the locker room—how are you not jealous?"
I only shrugged, "I never believed in such bullshit."
"What, love?" I stayed silent, and stared ahead, not wanting to talk about this. "You don't believe love is real?"
"It isn't though," I mumbled, "if it was real, then my dad wouldn't have—" I caught myself before I could say more "—never mind."
"Stop that." I looked up and saw no trace of humor on Daniel's face, only seriousness. "Stop doing that."
