COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS and I only have two more days left before I leave for Paris. I had to send a few of my stuff to my dorm in the college, so they were put in boxes beforehand. My dad would be arriving later today after school, to help me find a few other things I might need in the dorm.

Waking this morning was harder than usual. I couldn't get the looks that everyone had given me yesterday out of my head. They were either pity or disgust, and I hated myself that I had given myself that image a few days before leaving. After being seen as the girl that rarely showed any form of emotion, to the girl that has caused so much trouble amongst the Seavey siblings. Even if the two weren't incredibly popular in school, they were liked by a lot and I had created a problem with them.

Why? Because I'm a dumbass that doesn't know how to keep friends.

Once again; earphones in and hood up. I dragged my feet through the halls and towards my locker, grabbing my books and then to my class. No one paid any attention to me other than to send glares or looks of pity, but I didn't care anymore. They can hate me all they want, it's not like I'm going to be here for the rest of the semester.

Daniel sat in front of me, but instead of him directly sitting and looking forward, he sat facing me, propping his arms up onto the back of the chair. I tried not to look up at him; I tried keeping my attention onto the book in front of me. I tried reading the useless notes I had, but he tugged at one of my earphones, causing me to glare up at him. His eyes weren't blank like they were yesterday, but they looked... less bright. With how close he was, I could see the healing bruises on his face. He had a cut on his lip and near his eye, both wounds dry and slowly healing. His once bright blue eyes were bland, and surrounded by dark circles from lack of sleep maybe.

"I'm trying to understand why you didn't tell me, but I can't—I'm not someone that faces these kinds of things, and I know that you aren't used to having friends," he started off, "I want to talk to you... please Logan." It surprised me. His words surprised me a lot and it was evident on my face.

I should be the one pleading for him to talk to me because I am the one wrong between the two of us.

"I—" Since I barely talked during the past few days, my throat feels dry and I coughed into my hand. "I can't today, I'm... my dad's coming over." Daniel sighed, nodding and turned to face the front of the class, but I quickly touched his hand, gaining his attention. "But... uh, tomorrow?" He stared into my brown eyes for a moment, nodding as the corners of his mouth tilting up slightly.

I waited patiently in the living room, Ellie curled up on my lap as I stared at my door waiting for my dad to knock onto it. As if on cue, a knock sounded and I gently placed the kitten onto the couch and opened the door for my dad. A large smile appeared on his face as he wrapped his arms around me, but I couldn't smile, I only felt tears sting in my eyes as I hugged him back.

"Did you miss me that much, kiddo?" He teased, ruffling my hair. "What's wrong?"

"N-nothing," I shook my head, blinking quickly to get rid of the tears. "Can we get going?" He nodded, sending an unsure look before placing his things inside and we headed out. Mom and Marissa should be at the house they bought, so there wasn't any point in letting my dad stay in the apartment unless we were done with shopping.

It felt like the old times—when I was eight and my dad and I would go for random errands at the oddest hours. He sat in the driver's seat as I stared out the window, not too focused on what was passing by but watched the rain fall from the sky and onto the glass. I wasn't sure if I'd miss Portland. I didn't do much here on my own, and I shared a lot of memories with those two siblings, but I wasn't sure if I'd associate this place with good memories when I have created all the bad memories.

"Logan, what's wrong?" Dad asked as we pulled up into a red light.

"Nothing serious," I muttered, keeping my eyes on a raindrop trailing down the glass.

"It's something serious when even you don't tap along to this song," he referred to the upbeat tune playing on the radio. I rolled my eyes, a dry chuckle escaping my lips and a frown appear on my face.

"Can we talk about it later?" He agreed. Shopping for the things I needed went by quite fast because the majority of the time spent was in the snacks and treats section, where my dad kept insisting that I bring certain candies just in case they weren't available in France and even adding "maybe you'll be doing your homework and just think—oh I miss the taste of Reese's peanut butter cups—and turns out they're not available". I chuckled at that before retorting, "I'm sure they're available, Dad, and even if they aren't, then I'll buy chocolate and peanut butter and add them on a biscuit—life's not that hard." He chuckled at that, but dropped the orange packaging into the cart either way.

We finally arrived back at the apartment, Ellie still asleep on the couch and I had tossed the things that I'd be bringing into the suitcase. Dad had settled on the couch, waiting for me to sit down and when I did, he stared at me. A patient look on his face as his brown eyes stared at me, causing me to roll my eyes with a sigh. "Daniel found out about Paris."

"Which one? The fact that you got accepted or the fact that you changed dates?" He asked, raising a disapproving brow towards me.

"The fact that I changed dates and he put the pieces together and found out I got accepted," I explained, "and don't give me that look, I've never had friends like him, so I didn't know how to handle the situation."

"I know," he sighed, standing and moving to sit beside me, placing an arm around my shoulder for comfort, "but if he's mad, then he has every right to be—moving across the ocean is quite the secret to keep, and if he's mad, he's more hurt than angry."

"I kind of got that," I muttered, picking at my nails, "he asked to talk tomorrow, for me to explain myself."

"Then you better make him understand why you couldn't tell him..." I nodded, feeling the tears build up again. There was silence for a brief moment before my dad coughed, "So... uhm... your mother told me that you and Daniel had gone on a date..."

I groaned, covering my face, "Oh my God.
