After school, Percy decided to walk me home. We laughed and played games like "Eye-Spy" and "Punch Buggie". I asked my mom and step dad if he could stay over today even though neither of them were even home. They said yes because they said it would be good for me to have some company.

When we walked up to my house, the door was open. Uh-oh. I looked over at Percy, who for one had a frown of deep concentration.

"Well that can't be good...." He muttered to himself. Then he continued, "That's exactly what I was hoping NOT to happen..."

"What do you mean?" I ask, a little creeped out.

"Oh....Uh nothing......" He stuttered. "Let's check if your parents came home early..."

He sounded unsure of that. Plus, you could tell he knew my parents weren't home because there wasn't even car in the driveway.

" Hey shouldn't we call the police or something?" I questioned him, with my hands on my hips. "Doesn't this mean that someone probably broke into my house?!"

He looked at me, clearly irritated.

"Well? Are you gonna come in or not?" he asked frustrated.

"I am staying out here for information, because I do NOT think it is safe to go in!" I stated stubbornly.

"Fine. I'm going in to check if everything is ok." he turns and walks right into the front door before I can protest against his decision.

After about 10 minutes, I got tired of waiting.

"PERCY! IS IT SAFE TO COME IN?" I yell nervously through the front door, but I hear no answer. I call in again. No answer.

I slowly, but cautiously, walk through the door. I walk into the kitchen, and I see a boy on the ground with dark hair, unconscious.

"PERCY! OH MY GOD! ARE YOU OK?!" I scream into his ear, kneeling down next to him, while shaking him. He didn't budge.

Behind me I hear growling. I turn slowly around to see a beast with red eyes and giant canine teeth. If it tried out for a sabertooth tiger in a play, it would definitely made it onto broadway.

I screamed and pointed at it. Suddenly a lightning bolt came right through the roof of my house, striking the creature square in the face! The beast exploded into golden dust. I turned back to Percy, to see his eyes fluttering open.

"My god, Percy! You had me worried sick!" I said relieved, throwing my arms around him into a bear hug.

I quickly pulled away, but when I did I saw his eyes. His eyes were full of alarm.

"I'm sorry. Did I-" He cut me off there.

"Where is it! Where did it go? Are you-" he babbled, but stopped when his eyes saw the pile of dust on the floor. "Did you do that?" he asked me.

"Um...No. A lightning bolt came down and blew the thing to bits." I explained. "Would you like something to eat? Or an-"

"OH NO! You are coming straight to camp. Zeus rarely saves anyone. You must be special." He orders me.

"What? I'm NOT coming to no 'camp' with you! I am staying put!" I complain watching him stuff a small golden pen into his pocket.

"But-" He protested.

"I am not coming with you to your 'camp' with YOU, and that's FINAL" I confidently tell him. "Ok. Fine. But it looks like we're going to have to do this the hard way..." He hurled himself at me, scooped me up, and draped me over his shoulder with surprising ease.

"AH!" I screamed pounding on his back, "Put me down this instant!"

"Not a chance because something tell me if I do, you are gonna run, and I will never get you to camp." he explained, which was true.

"You're not gonna give up are you..." I say, giving up for myself.

"You got that right." he said happily. "Follow me!"

"Wha-? HEY!" I exclaimed. "NOT FUNNY!"

He chuckled and laughed, so obviously he though it was funny. I kicked him in the gut, and he instantly stopped laughing. Instead he put on a more serious tone.

"Ok. Now we don't have much time before something else finds us. I will explain on the way. If I let you down will you follow me and come to camp? I'm sure whichever one of your parents, that is actually your PARENT, will understand." he tells me.

"Wait how did you know that?" I wonder.

"A little birdie came over and told me." he joked. "First of all, what do think I'm going to say? Second, will you follow me to camp if I let you down?"

"You explain on the way to camp. And I guess I have no choice but to follow you, because I really don't want to meet another one of 'those things'. And are you sure my mom and step-dad will understand?" I ask.

"Your mom definitely will. Your step-dad...not so much." he replied.

"Ok." say not wanting to elaborate on it anymore.

Then we walked out of the front door, onto the street, and on our way to safety.

About thirty minutes later, we arrived at some woods about 2 - 3 miles from my house in Long Island.

"Here we are!" Percy gestures towards the woods, telling me to go on.

"But I don't see anything." I stated confused.

"That's because you have to go inside." he laughed.

He dragged me into the woods by the wrist, past a pine tree, and into the most beautiful place I've ever seen.
