When the bell rang, signaling the end of first period, Mrs. Kinst called me and Chris back to her desk. My first thought was 'oh no' because i knew whenever there was someone new at the school, a teacher had to pick another student to show them around and help them find their classes for the day. I slowly made my way back to Mrs. Kinst's desk.

"Destiny as you know at our school, we have something a little bit like, well, welcome buddies. Today you will be like Chris' 'welcome buddy'. You will help him to find his classes and well, just show him around." Thats what i was expecting to hear.

Part of me was annoyed that i had to be his welcome buddy because it was my second time doing this and the first time, I hated it. But the other part of me was excited because he was really cute and if he was gonna be my neighbor, I kinda did want to get to know him.

When Mrs. Kinst was done talking, me and chris walked out of her classroom. There was a bit of an awkward silence between me and Chris for a while.

"So Chris, where did you move from?" I asked trying to break the silence.

"Umm... atlanta georgia" he responded.

"Wow thats far. So why did you move all the way to colorado?" i questioned.

"Well its kind of a long story but basically my parents are divorced and i was living with my dad in atlanta but things happened so i had to come live with my mom. When i came to live with my mom, her and my stepdad realised there wasnt enough room in their house for me too so we all just kind of moved." he explained

"Wow. And thats the short version of the story?" i teased

"Heyy like I said, its a very long story" he joked back, laughing. I started laughing too. maybe this whole welcome buddy thing wasnt so bad after all.

I had every class with Chris so we talked all day. When the final bell rang, we walked to our lockers and then walked outside together.

"So do you ride the bus Des?" he asked me.

"No my brother picks me up. He could give you a ride if you want" I told him.

"Really? Are you sure he wouldn't mind? I mean you dont even know where i live" he said.

"Well where do you live?" i asked him not wanting to just asume he was my new neighbor.

"On greytington rd" he said and i started laughing. he gave me a confused look.

"Is your house number maybe 3246?" I asked him already guessing what his answer would be.

"Ya, why? Do you know where that is?"

"I've got an idea. And i know for a fact my brother won't mind giving you a ride" I told him and left it at that while he was still just giving me a confused look. Oh, how i loved confusing people.

When we got in the car, Dustin gave me a questioning look.

"Dustin this is Chris; Chris this is Dustin" i said introducing the two.

Dustin started to ask somthing but i cut him off. "I told Chris you could give him ride home. He lives on greytington rd. You know where that is right?" I said trying to contain my laughter. Dustin looked at me and seemed to know what i was up to. "I think i have an idea" he said smirking. That made me burst into laughter, making Chris look at me like i was insane.

We pulled down the street and into Chris' driveway. He got out of the car and waved bye. Little did he know we lived just across the street. Right when chris turned around, Dustin backed out of Chris' driveway, straight across the street, and into our driveway. I got out of the car and turned to face Chris who stood looking at me completely confused.

"Welcome to the neighborhood neighbor!!!" I yelled across the street.

He ran across the street laughing until he stood in front of me. "Why didnt you just tell me you lived across the street from me?" he asked still laughing.

"Where would the fun in that be?" I asked smirking while trying not to giggle.

As much as i didn't want to admit it, I was starting to really like Chris.
