The Enemy Visits

I was frozen and in shock. How was that possible. Miki grinned widely and I then heard Zenaku's voice mixed with his.

Miki:I will have that shard. You can't keep it forever. And you can't hide from me.

Me:Whoever said I was hiding asshole.

Miki:That arrogant attitude will be the end of you. Until we meet again.

Miki then looked like he was going to pass out. He shook his head and blinked a few times before looking at me. I could tell he wasn't completely aware of his surroundings but quickly snapped out of it. I was able to get a look at his eyes and they had returned to brown. I sighed, actually happy for once that he was ok. Miki was scowling at me then looked around. I could tell he didn't know what was going on. I had to think of something to do before he challenged me to another short fight. I ran past him and over to Chokichi. I knew there was no time to untie him so I just grabbed him, picked him up, and ran away with Aomi trailing behind. After I was sure we were a good distance, I stopped and began to untie Chokichi. Aomi was panting but, after getting her breath back, she began to help me with the knots. It didn't take us long to untie him and he hugged us and kept thanking us for saving him. I was finally able to breathe and turned to Chokichi with a worried look.

Me:Are you ok? They didn't hurt you did they?

Choki:No they didn't. I'm fine, really.

I let out a sigh of relief. I then thought about Zenaku and what he did last time we met. I held my chest and both Aomi and Chokichi looked at me then at each other. I didn't notice their expressions until I looked up and snapped out of my trance. I laughed nervously and lied to them saying I had to go help Shoukku with something. After saying bye, I ran to my house and quickly went inside. What I saw nearly sent me over the edge. There, sitting with my brothers, was Zenaku. I froze dead in my tracks, unable to take my eyes away from the intruder that was calmly sitting on the couch next to my brothers. When he saw me, he smiled a very devilish smile that sent shivers up my spine. The sensation I felt when I first met him was there but stronger than last time. I could feel it getting harder to breathe. Shoukku then got up and came over to me. He waved his hand in my face.

Shoukku:Hello? Earth to Shichi. Are you ok?

I didn't answer. My eyes were focused on the maniac sitting next to my little brother, talking with him and glancing over at me. Shoukku snapped his fingers in my face which made me blink and look at him. I gave him a glare. What do I look like, a fucking hypnotized guinea pig? Shoukku crossed his arms and gave me a glare of his own.

Shoukku:Where have you been? You were supposed to come home after school.

Me:I got held up by something.

I looked over at Zenaku. The damn bastard just smiled and went back to listening to my brother talk about his action figures. Shoukku just sighed and told me to sit. I walked past Zenaku and sat in the chair that was away from the couch. I wasn't about to give him the opportunity to steal the shard in me. I was glaring at him but he just sat there acting like I was invisible. Shoukku then broke the silence that had been created earlier.

Shoukku:So Zenaku. How long have you lived in this town?

Zenaku:Not long. I just recently moved here.

Shoukku:Well Maybe either me or Shichi can show you around. Help you locate everything you need.

He just looked at me and smiled then looked back at Shouku.

Zenaku:Me and Shichi have already met actually. We ran into each other on the street.

Shoukku:Let me guess. She yelled at you and told you to watch where you're going, right?

Shoukku looked at me with disappointment and anger in his eyes. I just glanced at him then continued to glare at Zenaku.

Zenaku:No. She actually apologized and went on her way.

Shoukku quickly looked at Zenaku with a shocked face.

Shoukku:She apologized? That doesn't sound like Shichi.

Me:I'm in the room you know.

Shoukku:I know.

Me:Jerk.

Shoukku:Well I'm getting thirsty. Anyone want a drink?

Both Zenaku and Yoroshii asked for a glass of water. Shoukku got up and went to the kitchen with Yoroshii right behind him. I was left alone with Zenaku. Damn. He turned to me and his eyes seemed to look straight into me as if searching for any weak points. I could tell he wanted the shard badly.

Zenaku:You have such a nice family. It would be a shame if something happened to them.

Me:You even lay one finger on them and you're dead meat. I can guarantee that.

Zenaku:You misunderstand me girl. I just want the shard. Not to harm your brothers.

Me:Couldv'e fooled me.

Zenaku:Tell you what. You give me the shard now and I won't touch your brothers or friends and I'll leave you alone forever.

Me:I'm not stupid. I know that once you get the shard, you'll do something evil with it after you complete the jewel.

Zenaku:Very well. But know this. I will have that shard and will use any method to get it. This is your warning.

Me:What's next, detention?

Zenaku:No. It will be much worse.

He got up and walked over to me. He leaned down next to me and whispered into my ear.

Zenaku:Death.

I could feel my heart stop. It froze along with my body. I know you expect them to tell you that you're going to die by their hands but you can't blame me for not liking the idea. He stood up and walked towards the door. He opened it and turned to me before walking out.

Zenaku:Until we meet again.

He smirked and walked out of the house before closing the door. I could tell that was his favorite line. 'Until we meet again'. Shoukku and Yoroshii came in with 4 glasses of water. He set them down and looked around then at me.

Shoukku:Where's Zenaku?

Me:He left.

Shoukku:Why? Did he have somewhere to go?

Me:I didn't ask! I don't need to know everything about the guy!

Before Shoukku could yell back, I ran up to my room and locked the door. I sat on my bed and buried my face into my hands. Henshin slithered onto my lap and laid his head on my thigh. I stroked his scales, the words Zenaku said to me going through my head. That one word echoing as if it was warning me. 'Death'. Over and over it went through my head. I could feel myself shaking like mad. I knew that he meant it. If I didn't hand over the shard, he was going to kill me for it. I could feel the wet tears streaming down my face. My enemy had just visited me in my own home. He knew where I lived, who I lived with, and, worst of all, everyone I knew. I had already figured it out in my head but didn't want to believe it. Zenaku was able to figure out everything about me yet I didn't know how. I thought about it for a moment and a thought crossed my mind that wasn't legit but made sense. The shard. Somehow, he found out everything from the shard. I wiped the tears away and decided that I was going to do everything I could to keep him away from my friends and family. I wasn't about to let him have his way.
