"What do we do?" Astrid asked. She paced around for awhile while Nightfire watched her egg intently. Hiccup flipped through the journals Magnus gave him at an incredible rate.

"It says nothing about Night Fury hatchings. They must have never watched one," Hiccup said.

"Well, we are about to," Astrid said, hearing the first tiny crack.

On Berk

"Now that you are Chief Dagur of Berk, what do you want to do?" Gobber asked.

"Whatever Hiccup would do at a time like this," was Dagur's answer.

"What specifically, would you like to do?" Gobber asked again.

"Again, whatever Hiccup would do."

"For Thor's sake, Chief. We all miss Hiccup, but we must move on. Berk ain't gonna stop because another has stopped." Gobber choked on the words. He was lying through his teeth.

"What if that man took a chance on you, when no one else would? What if that man, brought you family you thought was gone? What if he brought you across the Archipelago to find your father?" Dagur got louder with each word.

Deep breath Dagur, deep breath.

"Sorry Knobber," Dagur said once he calmed down.

"Its Gobber," Gobber replied.

"I'm sorry Gobber. Its been a tough four hours."

"Not just for you Dagur. For all of Berk. Silent Sven's sheep are all missing. Dragons are in hysterics, and who knows who is the new Alpha," Heather said. She closed the door to the Great Hall and came toward the men.

"Has anyone started gathering food?" Dagur asked.

"No one."

"What are we supposed to do?" Dagur asked.

"We just have to push the village forward, without Hiccup and Astrid," Gobber replied. Before any tears could spill or wounds open, a Deadly Nadder cried in the distance.

Back to Hiccstrid

"Hiccup, I think its happening."

"What?" Hiccup asked.

"I think the baby is coming," Astrid replied.

"Okay, what do you think we'll need? Did your mom ever talk to you about what to do in a situation like this?" Hiccup asked.

"If your asking if my mom ever told me what to do if I was in labor on a desolate island with only my husband and two dragons, then the answer is no," Astrid replied. She sighed deeply.

"Are you okay?" Hiccup asked.

"I'm, I'm fine," Astrid replied. She gestured over to the tent with her head.

"Right, right," Hiccup said. He put his arms under Astrid, and carried her to the tent.

He popped his head out to check on the dragons. "Will you two be alright?" Hiccup asked. The two glared at him, and he retreated back into the shelter.

"Toothless is taking care of Nightfire, how are you?" Hiccup asked. He put an arm around Astrid.

"I'm fine," Astrid replied.

Over the course of twelve hours, nothing changed, except for Astrid's occasional grunts and curses. Both sets of parents, however, were in distress. Astrid's baby was due any minute, as was Toothless and Nightfire's.

"Just, c'mon," Hiccup said. Before they knew it, a high pitched dragon scream filled the land, as well as a baby's scream.

"It's a girl!" Hiccup cried in joy. He bundled his baby girl in a blanket, throwing his arm around Astrid.

"Its a girl," Astrid reiterated. She breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'm gonna check on the baby Night Fury while you feed her," Hiccup said. He kissed Astrid on the head before leaving.

Toothless flared his wings, defending his mate and baby. "Toothless, Toothless, it's me," Hiccup said. Toothless's eyes dilated at the sound of Hiccup's voice. He moved to the side, allowing Hiccup to see the baby Night Fury. Toothless beamed like the proud father he was.

"Wow. I've seen baby dragons, but none quite like this," Hiccup stated, kneeling down by the baby. "Hey, Toothless, you have a baby girl too," Hiccup said.

No shoot Sherlock.

"Whatever," Hiccup said. He picked her up, and cradled her.

Nightfire got up shakily, but wasn't quite ready. She fell on the ground, almost like she had Dragon Root. "I'm sorry. I should probably get back to Astrid," Hiccup said, putting the baby by Nightfire. He ran to the tent, and found Astrid asleep.

I'll let her be, Hiccup thought, dozing off next to Astrid.

"Hiccup!" Valka cried as soon as she saw the camp. Stormfly landed, and Valka jumped from the saddle. She ran into the tent to find Astrid and Hiccup asleep.

"Hiccup, Astrid?" Valka asked. She looked at the child in Astrid's arm.

"Mom! How did you find us?"

"When did you have a baby?"

"Since when did Hiccup have a beard?" Snotlout asked. Astrid woke up at the sound of the baby scream.

"Wait. Hiccup, is this a dream? How did you find us?"

"Stormfly must've tracked your scent. She's the one who found you," Valka replied. "Now when did you have a baby?"

"Just last night," Astrid replied. She smiled that proud mother smile. Before Snotlout could ask his question, Stormfly looked up.

"That dragon scream again," Astrid remarked.  With Hiccup's help, Astrid got up. She smiled as Stormfly tentatively sniffed the baby, before squawking to the other dragon.

Right before everyone's eyes, Garf rose from the mountain. He flew to the camp, where more Vikings were coming ashore.

"Mom?"

"I didnt know if you would need any help. But I see you made it just fine," Valka said. She wrapped an arm around Hiccup.

"Wait, if Garf is here, then that means," Astrid began.

"We are on Melody Island," Hiccup finished.

Two weeks later, on Berk.

Astrid, Nightfire, and the young ones were given proper medical treatment. Hiccup got a shave, and Berk was no longer part of the Berserker Tribe.

"I, Chief Hiccup Horrendous Hadcock name you Melody Miraculous Haddock the First," Hiccup named his unborn daughter. Astrid smiled proudly at the Vikings gathered below, the Riders in the front row.

"I love you," Hiccup told Astrid, kissing Mel on the head.

Imagining the road ahead, she replied lovingly "To the Edge and back."
