Chapter Eighteen: To Chief or not to Cheif Pt.2

"Merida. This has been a tough decision, but, we have decided. We'll hold you to your word, and prepare for a full scale attack. You'll wait in the prisons with Astrid watching you until the Trials," Hiccup said. He paced around the room as everyone left.

"Why did you come back?" He asked.

More pacing.

"I came back, well, because visiting my old home, I realized why I love it here. You, my friends, memories, to say the least, everything. I couldn't let it be destroyed."

"Yeah. That's why you didn't stop the last attacks?" He asked.

"The last attacks?" She asked confused.

"Yeah. The attacks that killed my father," Hiccup replied. His voice grew soft at the mention of his father.

"Wait. Stoick is dead?"

"Yeah, the Alpha dragon killed him."

"I'm so sorry."

"Sorry won't cut it. He's dead, and its because of you. You could have warned us. You could have done something when it mattered. But no, when I needed you most, you weren't here."

Merida, although her heart was being ripped in two from his words, had a feeling Hiccup wasn't talking about then. 

"Merida!" Hiccup said. He looked in an alleyway, where he thought he saw a shadow.

"Hiccup, she's not here. I don't know what you saw last night, but she isn't here. Toothless and I saw nothing," Astrid said.

"No, I, I need to find her. I saw her last night," Hiccup replied.

"Hiccup, Gothi said the medication would make you see hallucinations. You need to lie down, and rest your leg."

"I'm not stopping until I find her," Hiccup replied. He removed his hand from Astrid's shoulder, and tried to walk on his own. Before he fell, Astrid caught him.

"Hiccup, your dad will be furious if he finds out that your not in bed. I'll look for her by myself."

"No. I've waited to long for them to come back. I need to find them."
