Chapter 1

"Kogami! Are you even listening!?"

The loud voice resonated in the dimly lit room, alerting the man who had lost himself in his thoughts.

Kogami jerked his head upwards and looked towards in front of him to see an annoyed Ginoza who had to interrupt his own speech in order to bring the 28 year old man down to earth.

"Yeah, yeah I am. Continue." Said Kogami.

Ginoza sighed and pushed up his glasses before going back to explaining the recent new murders.

"As I was saying, every one of the murders so far-"

Everything went back to silent as Kogami once again slipped into his daydream.

The man had been like this for some months now. Ever since the horrific death of his coworker/friend Mitsuru Sasayama, Kogami had changed drastically. His Crime Coefficient had increased to abnormal levels. If it wasn't for Ginoza forcing him to take treatment, he would've been demoted to an Enforcer. The treatments succeeded in balancing his Crime Coefficient and managed to keep his hue clean but he wasn't stable internally. When something breaks, even if you glue it together, the cracks and seams will peer into your soul. Kogami Shinya was a broken man, held together with chemicals just to be presentable to society.

"So that'll be all for today."

With that the meeting came to a conclusion. When Kogami looked up, he vaguely wondered how his thoughts had the power to make hours seem like minutes. But he didn't dwell on that thought for too long, just like every other matter. He simply got up and began walking out of the meeting room. But before the man could fully exit, an irritatingly loud alarm went off.

"This is an elevated Area Stress Level warning! At Toneri park in the Adachi ward, a Psycho-Pass above the regulation value has been detected. Inspectors on duty are requested to go straight to the site with Enforcers immediately."

And that was his call, to put on his inspector persona and go face an unknown situation where his life could be at risk. But the raven haired man had become used to such treacherous work.

"Lets go, Kogami." Ginoza said, his tone even more serious now than his usual one. Kogami sighed, grabbing his grey coat and preparing himself for another field work.

The car ride was silent; the sirens were off as to not alert any possible latent criminals at their destination. Kogami, Ginoza, Kagari, Masaoka and Kunizuka were the ones headed to the spot. The two inspectors were in the Police car while the others were in the Enforcer van.

"Told you so many times not to smoke in the damn car!"

Ginoza scolded the man sitting on the passenger seat next to him. He glared daggers at the man at fault yet Kogami didn't pay any heed to the rebuke and continued inhaling his beloved fumes of nicotine. The window was down and all the smoke vanished out of the speeding car so Kogami believed Ginoza had no rights to complain.

Ginoza clicked his tongue in annoyance and focused his green eyes back on the road ahead of him, giving up on correcting his best friend; fully knowing his stubborn nature.

"Arriving at destination in 1 minute and 19 seconds" a robotic voice announced. Kogami sighed and put out his leftover cigarette in the car ashtray, sitting up straight, preparing himself for action.

Like the robot had said, the car came to a stop exactly after 1 minute and 19 seconds. The black haired duo stepped out of the vehicle and so did the three enforcers. The cart containing the dominators was also brought out and everyone present around it took one on Ginoza's command.
