Typing away at his tablet, Kogami's grey eyes scanned the words on the screen in front of him. The man was engaged in writing a report about last night's case, it's details and how the inspectors had handled the situation. The perpetrator, Akio Suzuki, was taken into custody and was waiting to be questioned, which was Kogami's duty. Thinking about extra work made the raven haired man sigh.
Hitting full spot, the report came to a conclusion. Kogami threw his arms above his head and stretched them as a mean to relieve the stress in his shoulders. Now to question the culprit.
Kogami got up from his chair and looked around the office. His shift was almost over but he didn't see Ginoza anywhere in sight. Only three enforcers in their respective desks.
Only one desk remained empty which belonged to his deceased co-worker, Mitsuru Sasayama. Kogami closed his eyes tightly and pinched the bridge of his nose to prevent tears from gathering in his eyes.
"You okay, Ko?" Concerned Masaoka asked. Kogami just nodded.
"Yeah I am. Don't worry, pops. Tell Gino I'm off to question Suzuki."
With that, Kogami walked out of the office.
__________________"Now, Mr. Suzuki." Kogami started, inspecting the handcuffed person in front of him. In all honesty, Akio didn't look like a criminal to him. He just looked stressed and scared but as his Psycho Pass had gone up, there was nothing Kogami could do to help him.
"Why did you attack the woman last night?" Kogami asked, his tone steady and stern. He was here to break the suspect and gather all the information he can from him so being sympathetic won't do.
Akio flinched and looked up at Kogami. "I didn't attack her! She's the one in the wrong here! She's a killer! A murderer! I don't know how her Psycho Pass is still clear after killing my brother but I saw her! I saw her that night! That night I did mention her to the police when they arrived at the scene but they didn't do anything about it! So I just had to find her! And I did!"
Kogami watched as the man frantically told his story. Kogami didn't want to believe him but something about the woman didn't feel right to him. You could call it a detective's instinct. Kogami didn't interrupt Akio and continued listening to him.
"But here I am now, the innocent one locked behind bars while SHE is out there, ready to kill. Does Public Safety even care about justice?" Akio cried out, tears running down his face now. Kogami sighed and stood up from his chair.
"I assume you have nothing more to say. You'll be transferred to the psychological facility to receive mental care." Kogami told the man before walking out of the room.
(Y/N) (L/N)
She was indeed a strange character in this mess of a case yet wasn't directly linked to it. She couldn't even be labelled as a suspect but Kogami wasn't going ignore the possibility of her being involved.
Getting into the elevator, the man headed for the division 1 office once more to do some research.
______________
After reaching the office, Kogami sat in front of his designated desk and logged into his computer. He brought up the surveillance footage from the night of Akio's brother's murder. Kogami cringed;remembering how mutilated the body was. It's shocking to see the street footage with the body's sight in mind. No one can imagine how such a horrible murder took place in such a calm street.
Kogami had seen the footage a thousand times but nothing incriminating was found. But this time, he noticed the familiar locks of (H/C) hair. Akio was right, (Y/N) was indeed present at the location that night but her Psycho-Pass was normal. She didn't look suspicious or anything but she was there that night. Kogami got one more reason to believe his gut, this time, it was a solid one.
**************************
Kogami slammed the door of his car shut after he had gotten out of the vehicle. Good thing self driving cars existed as the man was in no mood to drive. He had to conserve his energy for a more serious business.
Kogami stood in front of the two-story house he had visited last night that belonged to the young woman. It was already nighttime; the sky was painted black with specks of glimmering white. Kogami had decided to pay a visit to (Y/N) after his shift for some questioning. For that reason, he was situated at her house.
Kogami walked over the stone pathway that lead to the front door, looking around the modern design of the property. He didn't expect any less from the house of the wife of Nobuo Yamamoto, the late Executive Director of the IT company, Maxix. The man had died two years ago due to suicide. Kogami was surprised to find out (Y/N) had married the influential man which was surprising because she didn't appear in any news or media.
When he reached the front, he was about to ring the doorbell when he saw the door was slightly open. Curiosity sparked within him and he opened the door fully before stepping inside.
The house was dead silent. Everything looked normal besides the droplets of red that adorned the wooden floor beneath him. Alarms went off in his head seeing the eerie sight. Kogami stepped in further, inspecting everything in his surrounding. He followed the trail of red which ultimately lead him to something that made his stomach churn in disgust.
Laid before him on the floor was a brutally mutilated dead body. The sight was so grotesque, Kogami couldn't describe it. He was about to pull out his cell to contact the MWPSB when he felt something cold along with a sharp sting on his neck but before he could react, his vision started to become cloudy and he lost all commands over his body as he fell to the ground. Everything started spinning and going black.
He heard distant sounds of footsteps before a female figure appeared before his fading vision. Kogami saw a smirk on the woman's face before he lost consciousness.
