Chapter 7

"A party?"

Kogami asked in confusion, looking at Ginoza who sat in front of him and then towards Masaoka. The officers and enforcers were situated at the division 1 meeting room, discussing their plan to investigate a party hosted by the city's mayor. All sorts of wealthy individuals were suppose to attend. But that's not all. From a good guess, the officers could tell something more illicit would go on.

"We are sure from drug test that the substance that was used was definitely Blue Ice and it's very expensive and rare so no normal person can get their hands on it. And from past research we know these elite parties are more than they seem. It's a high chance we can find some clues if we investigate this party." Ginoza explained, his tone steady and eyes focused.

"Oooh! A party does seem really cool!" Kagari's cheerful voice resonated in the room but his joy was cut short when realisation hit him.

"But wait! Mr. Ginoza, you said only the wealthy and elites! How are we gonna investigate if we can't get in?" Kagari asked, his previous smile turned into a frown.

Kagari's question was indeed a good one; Kogami was also thinking about it.

Instead of Ginoza, Masaoka answered.

"The higher ups managed to get us invitation cards so we don't need to worry about that".

Everyone nodded to the answered and processed the information they had just received.

"The event is at 8pm tonight. Proper attire will be sent to your dorm rooms so be sure to be ready by that time" Ginoza informed everyone before he stood up.

The meeting came to an end and everyone walked out of the room; Kogami following Ginoza out while lost in his thoughts.

Only the devilish woman's thoughts circled Kogami's mind. He was stuck in a critical dilemma, a fight against his morals yet he reassured himself once again that he will solve everything with time.

With that thought and a new determination, he headed towards his house to prepare for the event.

Kogami looked up when he felt the car he was sitting in come to a stop in front of a large mansion.

Beside him was Ginoza while the enforcers were in another car. Everyone was dressed for the occasion; they had to in order to blend in. It was a very glamourous disguise.

Kogami fixed his red tie one last time before exiting the car. Kogami and the others gathered infront of the large gates of the mansion, each of them looking at one another to confirm their positions before beginning their mission. Kogami and the others put on their masquerade mask before walking inside.

When they walked inside, they were greeted with bright lights, grand music and an elegant crowd. It looked like something straight from a movie scene.

But it was no time to be awed by extravagant luxuries. It was time for work.

The five of them split up into two teams while Kogami was by himself. He watched as Kagari and Kunizuka went way while Ginoza and Masaoka the other.

Kogami let out a deep breath before stepping into the mansion further, making his way past the other guests and trying to act like them. He kept his composure and blended in, ordering a drink from one of the butlers and made small talks with the women who obviously tried to flirt with him.

It wasn't their fault though, Kogami was looking dashing in his black suit. The handsome man looked ten times more attractive with such a lavish getup. Women were bound to swarm him like flies but only one woman was on his mind. The ever so mysterious and evil (Y/N) (L/N).

Her name made Kogami tense up. He had so much anger in him which she ignited within in him yet she made him curious and he was hoping that curiosity wouldn't kill him.

As Kogami chatted with one lady, he heard a oh so familiar voice speak up through a mic which caught everyone's attention.

Turning his gaze towards the grand staircase, he saw a woman standing at the top. The woman was clad in a gorgeous red dress; the spotlight on her made her dress sparkle even more. Her masquerade mask added a mysterious aura to her beauty.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am ecstatic to see you all have made time out of your busy schedules to attend this wonderful little event of ours. Your presence has blessed this party and has brought immense joy. Please enjoy this night to your heart's content!" The woman's beautiful voice announced as she raised a wine glass upto the air. All the other guests followed and a round of applause filled the grand hall.

Even with that mask on, Kogami knew exactly who she was. Kogami excused himself from all the ladies surrounding him, making them visibly upset and whine.

He watched as (Y/N) elegantly descended the stairs; Kogami's own feet treading closer to her.

The music changed into a more rhythmic one, signalling that the ballroom dance was about to begin. Kogami didn't stop walking, instead he sped up his movement to reach (Y/N) before anyone else could.

Kogami knew he couldn't confront her there, he need to escort her somewhere else.

"May I have this dance?" Kogami asked politely as he stood behind (Y/N), cringing internally at the cheesy dialogue. Cringy or not, he needed to keep up his disguise and act.

Hearing his voice, (Y/N) turned around and smiled at the tall man.

"Of course"
