This is set in the game universe of Pokemon, with a few twists, people can understand Pokemon, IRL animals aka "natural animals" are also around, and some of them have a few special abilities. Rachel is a happy-go lucky kid with a natural cat named...

The hotel was a small place. Slightly busy, kinda quiet. A kitten was flicking her tail fast, her eyes in a rolling manner.
"Uhg when will she wake up, guess it's time to shine!" The kitten spoke with annoyance laced in their voice.
They took a position, crouching as they POUNCE!
"Katttiiiiiiiie!" whined the voice of what they sat on.
"You took too long to wake up Rachel," retorted Katie.

Rachel rolled her eyes at the fuzzy kit. Katie was blue, with slightly darker blue eyes, her belly was soft and fluffy as snow, with a matching left paw same color, and pink nose and ears.
"Well let's head to the square then O so mighty kitten." Rachel retorted at her fuzzy feline.
Rachel was smaller than regular 8 soon to be 9 year olds, with oak brown hair, slightly spiked front and short, dazzled emerald eyes, and cream skin.
Katie yawned and feathery light wings formed around her back.
"Katie what did I say about using your power!" moaned Rachel, "not a lot of people know that it's natural!"
"Okay did you seriously do a pun?!" Katie spat, "also there are weirder things!" This wasn't the first time the grumpy cat used her power to conjure her wings, it was normal as Katie was one of the natural animals who could do that. Natural animals were unique because they weren't like Pokemon. (AN: Just imagine irl animals but some have cool colors and powers and can sometimes talk)
"Fine but let's meet the others so I can GET A POKEMON!" Rachel spoke full of power.
"Sure lets just go and get the sorry bugger." Katie retorted
Kalos may have had a small native bundle, but their starters were perfect for Rachel, since the lowest age to get a starter was 7 (in Hoenn) and the two decided somewhere cooler. Katie burst out of the hotel doorway since Rachel had to talk to get the room for some other sap.
Least the place is a bit more quiet than our old little region. Thought the kitten.
"Are we there yet?" yowled Katie, stepping loudly on poor leaves.
"Soon," Rachel said calmly, trying not to bounce on leaves as well.
"Hey, what's up!" someone loudly called in a voice that Rachel had known for a while.
"Oh hey, Sky! And Hiko?" Rachel replied, tilting her head.
Sky was a 9 year old with long blond hair and brown eyes, wearing a black plaid jacket with a white shirt underneath, as well as brown shorts and black shoes. She also was wearing fake black and white cat ears and a cat tail, the latest Kalos fashion for trainers.
Hiko had paler skin than Sky and he had a white shirt with an orange squiggle along with black shorts and shoes. He had black hair and icy blue eyes.
Rachel herself wore a purple shirt with a red sash for pokeballs, a brown backpack, brown shorts, and green sneakers with yellow soles.
"Did you get the pokemon?" asked Rachel tilting her head
"Duh!" snapped Katie, swishing her tail back and forth.
"Me and Hiko picked the two F's of the trio," Sky stated.
Rachel could see a red fox with a white muzzle, bushy tail and red annoyed eyes, as well as a frog with white foam and a dark blue stripe on its blue body.
"I picked Froakie, who is Fro, and Fenn the Fennekin is Sky's lil' pal," Hiko told the two.
"Veeery original names there, bub," retorted Katie. "Who's the last one, a bird called Birdy?" Rachel noticed behind the two a green/brown gopher chipmunk, the shell was green, extending on the back and tail, he had two green/blue eyes.
"Hiya fella, wanna come with me?" Rachel crouched and asked the small fellow.
"You..wanna pick me?" the pokemon said with brighter color in his eyes.

"Well we don't have any other op-" Katie spoke, then a small fire hit the cat on the nose, sizzling her chatter.
"Don't be rude to Hardy, he's not exactly bold," snapped the Fennekin known as Fenn.
"Yeah he was a starter for months, apparently everyone wanted girl Chespins!" added Fro.
Rachel's eyes went hard, the fact people would pick someone due to gender? It made her mad since Hardy seemed like a nice Chespin!
"Yay! I won't let you down miss Rachel!" Hardy happily said, bouncing on his feet in an eager matter.
Hiko and Sky gave stares to each other, smiling calmly as they knew that they had done a good thing.
"Well why not test the bugger with me an' Fro huh, Rach?" Hiko asked the girl and her new spiky pal.
Hardy didn't even stay still as vines came out his neck and they hit Fro faster than lightning
"Get whipped!" Hardy exclaimed, putting on sunglasses. "Okay this guy is cool," Katie grinned a little.
"Well, gotta go guys!" Rachel said, picking up the two fellers.
"Hey I'll check on you in a bit!" Sky said, returning Fenn in her pokeball.
