Chapter 20

"So Viper, let's train you up a bit," Rachel said kneeling down to the Skorupi.

"Good point, I am slightly underleveled, but I do know some good poison type moves," Viper replied smiling at the girl.

"Have fun grinding the time away!" Katie called back flopping down on a rock. Hiko just rolled his eyes at the scene. Fro chuckled and blew a few bubbles. Rachel worked on some Grass types for Viper and Bernie, she noticed some weird gooey purple pokemon during the training.

"Those are Goomy, often called the "weakest" Dragon type, their final form Goodra is painful..." Viper explained giving a shudder.

"You talking about that time an angry Goodra attacked the Cyclone and broke both our legs, man that stank," Bernie added rubbing his neck. Rachel then gasped as she realized the swamp must be Bernie's home.

"Anyway we've been training plenty! Let's challenge the gym!" Viper exclaimed, Rachel then shook her head and replied.

"No, I got to train my other pokemon, plus I do want to buff up my Gabite and practice with my Blastoise," Viper then tilted her head in confusion, Bernie then whispered in explanation. Rachel let Chomper battle some of the Dragon types while she chatted with Shelly.

"So Shelly how've you been?" Rachel started giving a friendly ask to the bulky turtle.

"I'm fine, Aura's busy and having fun...least I can clean her easy," Shelly replied turning to the Meowstic and baby Kangaskhan, tackling each other and rolling in the mud.

"Hey, Shelly" Rachel asked, turning to her pokemon, Shelly then tilted her head, letting Rachel finish.

"We're friends right, pals? I know you think of me as your boss, but I just want to be friends with my pokemon," she explained, pointing to her Key stone wrist, and adjusted her shirt.

"Ah, so we're friends, like me and Nina, if she wasn't in her phase..." Shelly replied pointing to the Crustle admiring Chomper who swatted a Quagsire away.

"Wow Mr.Chomper you're the bestest!" Nina complemented holding one of his fins out.

"Why thank you Nina, you're very nice," Chomper replied, still not getting it.

"Hey doofus she's into you!" Tiny yelled, which got her a nudge from Memma, who glared at her,

"Tiny darling! That is not nice! Apologize to Chomper!" Memma snapped, Tiny then rubbed her head.

"Oh I'm sorry Chomper..." Tiny apologized looking the other way.

"Oh... so you love me? I don't know what do think, you could do better than an old dragon like me," Chomper rambled embarrassed he didn't catch onto Nina's admiring.

"But you're really nice! And you're not like all the other Gabite! They're gem thieves and some are very rude!" Nina replied smiling at the Gabite.

"Just take it slow!" Shelly advised giving tips to her friend. Rachel then decided it was good to challenge the gym now, returning all her pokemon and notifying Hiko and Katie.

"So you got some potions packed? I hear lots of trainers drop out at this point," Hiko warned, Fro nodding sadly in agreement.

"Relax! Push comes to shove I can just sweep with Memma! Problemo solved!" Rachel replied not wanting to back down after coming so far.

"You can't stop her but E for effort," Katie added, patting Hiko's hair on his head. Fro just laughed as the blue kitten was messing up Hiko's hair.

"Welcome challanger?" the gym leader Valerie asked the spinning girl, who then held up a hand.

"Yup...totally fine uhg," Rachel replied before falling face first to the ground, Hiko followed suit in laughter.
