Chapter 19

  Rachel hummed while walking to the next route, holding the very Chespin plush Hardy gave her for her birthday yesterday, Katie sighed and walked beside her, she then stretched as she walked with Rachel.
"Nice day to continue our adventure huh Katie?" Rachel asked her feline companion who merely shrugged.
"Meh I could use some coffee, Hey is that Fro?" Katie asked pointing a paw toward the route entrance. Fro was pacing back and forth, hopping worriedly.
"Hey Fro are you alright? Where's Hiko?" Rachel asked the Froakie, who jumped back startled.
"Oh I was waiting for you! Hiko's up ahead he wanted to wait for you, remember the friend meeting?" Fro told Rachel, who then dropped the Chespin plush. Katie hastily picked it back up and into the backpack.
"Fuzz I forgot! Thanks for reminding me Fro!" Rachel exclaimed then running ahead, Fro just sighed and hopped along.


"Looks like late Rach arrived!" Sky teased as Rachel walked in the route, who glared at her friend while she was walking in.
"Don't be mean already! There's a reason I called the friend meeting," Hiko retorted at Sky, who shrugged, her black plaid jacket flapping in the wind.
"Like spill the beans Hiko dude!" Jazz exclaimed staring at him, her pink eyes curious.
"Ah yes, guys I wanted to say-"
"Why not have a battle Rach? Sky asked Rachel, butting in to Hiko's message.
"Sure!" Rachel chirped, then started deciding which pokemon to use in her upcoming battle. Hiko groaned not enjoying his speech interrupted, Fro put a reassuring paw on him, Hiko didn't stare back at his starter.
"Well first off Becky go!" Sky exclaimed calling her Umbreon, who licked her paw.
"Well Yong go!" Rachel replied, calling out the blue karate pokemon. Becky and Yong had a stare off, Becky's gold eyes matching Yong's blue.
"Aren't you going to say something?" Becky asked preparing a Sucker Punch. Yong then caught her off guard, sending a Low Sweep to her side, landing her on the playground.
"Talking is for later Dark Type," Yong retorted his eyes cool and cold. Becky then used Snarl, dark waves coming off her, making Yong's special attack power decrease.
"Good thing I just have physical moves," Yong commented then using Karate Chop. Becky then fainted afterwards, her eyes spinning. Sky then sighed and returned her Umbreon, and called out Fletch.
"Yong good job," Rachel complemented returning Yong, then picked Nina's pokeball and out came the Crustle, her glasses on ready for battle.
"Frick a Rock type, uh.... Fletch use Gust?" Sky commanded wanting to be a distance from any dangerous moves. Nina didn't feel the Gust she blocked the attack by hiding into her shell.
"Rock Slide!" Rachel cheered on her pokemon, who summoned the rocks in front of Fletch, knocking her out immediately.
"Good job Fletch." Sky said bluntly, "Go Auri use Psychic," she commanded her Meowstic. Rachel then called on Memma, who chomped Auri with a Crunch, blocking the Psychic and knocking her out. Sky then facepalmed as she was being wrecked very fast.



"Go Rachel!" Moon cheered her arms waving in the air.
"Uh what is she doing?" her Espeon replied, noticing Rachel was walking back and forth the spot she was in.
"Sorry!" Rachel called over, "It's just my sensitive thing!"
"You do it you radical mate!" Jazz replied back, giving a thumbs up. Hiko just sighed and Fro chuckled a bit.
"You know you're going to turn into a greaser if you keep being snappy," Fro joked trying to start Hiko up, who just turned the other way, Fro then frowned and hit his trainer with froth bubbles.
"Hey Fro!" Hiko whined rubbing his black slick hair. "This took 3 hours!"
"Wonder how the dope fight is going?" Hipchu asked turning from the funny scene.


"Nice job evolving, but I won't go easy," Hardy complemented Fenn, shaking her paw.
Fenn had grown a lot taller, her fur a darkish red with pink patches like a dress, her tail fuzzier and on her back there was her wand, a stick in her mouth lit aflame. Hopefully she isn't an smoking Delphox and it's just a twig.
"Thank you, but be careful, and no I'm not smoking it's just for fun," Fenn replied reading Hardy's thoughts like a book.
"Face my Razor Leaf!" Hardy snarled conjuring sharp leaves that Fenn burned with her wand.
"Well you need a dash of Mystical Fire," she retorted coolly, blasting Hardy with the harsh flames, she looked to see Hardy had a Spiky Shield up, which blocked her attack.
"Well in that case, Aura..." Hardy then conjured a blue-like orb and flung it at Fenn, but it then went left and attacked Katie.
"OW Hardy you jerkface-" Katie snarled at the Chesnaught, who rubbed his spikes.
"Katie no!" Rachel warned knowing Katie and her track of language what she would say.
"Fine," she pouted swishing her tail against the leaves. Rachel noticed in her backpack Bernie's pokeball was empty with a note,
out exploring brb boss! -Bernie.
"He could've told me," she muttered before resuming on the battle.
Bernie flew around the familiar swamp, waving to some Goomy who were sloshing on the floor. He then noticed the a well known hidden tunnel he used to come in every evening. At the entrance was a Drapion, who gave him happy look and then spoke.
"Sir Bernie? Welcome back evolved, perhaps a caught pokemon?" the guard asked pointing his claw at the Beedrill.
"Yes, I'd like to tell the madam where I'm going before I leave," he replied giving a polite bow.
"You're free to visit and come anytime! Anyone who sacrificed their own skin for Madame Viper is an honored member of the Venom Cyclone," replied the guard.
"Still can't "bee"lieve groups of scorpions are called that," Bernie joked before hovering past, he noticed several Skorupi and Drapion gawked at him, he then noticed of of them call to the largest nest. Out came a sleek and slender Skorupi he knew very well.
"What is the fuss brother I'm rea-....Bernie?!" exclaimed the voice of Viper who stared at him with wide eyes.
"Heya Vips, it's your pal Bernie," he said doing a little spin.


Bernie and Viper shared eye contact for a while, Bernie's red eyes staring Viper's dark blue.
"So long time no see," Bernie spoke at last, calmly starting the conversation.
"It's good seeing you!" Viper replied smiling at her friend. Then noticed the scar on his cheek, realizing he got it from that same pokemon.
"But I do have some news for you, I have a trainer, meaning I can't stay forever with the Venom Cyclone, I could leave but I enjoy adventuring," Bernie explained lifting a needle. Viper's head then dropped down in sadness due to the fact of Bernie leaving.
"If you want to go with him that's fine but be careful," spoke the voice of the Chief Drapion extending a comforting claw on Viper's shoulder.
"Thanks Dad...I'll visit when I can" Viper spoke, thanking her father.
"Take care of her Bernie, I know you like her" the Chief spoke, making the Beedrill and Skorupi fluster and blush a little. Viper is Bernie's crush.

"Meh I bet Bernie is flirting with some girls possibly," Katie joked, Rachel just sighed as Hardy was blasted with a Psybeam.
"Dangit Fenn! Take this!" Hardy then fired another failed Aura Sphere, which hit a tree that fell on Fenn, knocking the Delphox out.
"What the heck?" Sky muttered returning her starter. Hiko then commented.
"Can I finish my stat-
BOOM!
Rain patterned on the group of friends, Rachel then returned Hardy and everyone else did the same except Hiko didn't Fro.
"Let's get some shelter! I hear there's a house nearby!" Moon said, everyone nodding in agreement.
"Even for me the rain is cruel today.." Fro whined shivering on top of Hiko's head. Everyone was shivering to their bones due to wading through the sloshed mud without raincoats, Rachel feeling a lot worse as she was missing Bernie still.
"Where is that Beedrill I will murder him, maybe twice," Katie started on Rachel's head, her fur damp and smelly.
"Did someone say moi?" sang the voice of the sweet sounding Beedrill hovering over the gang, for some reason a scorpion blue pokemon was on his back.
"Never have I been so glad to see some rad poison pal dude!" Jazz exclaimed limping over to the bee.
"If you're looking for shelter I know the old mansion," the Skorupi on Bernie's back said pointing her claw east.
"Guess we're going that-a-way!" Moon exclaimed heading toward the direction first. When they got there they saw that a mansion was old and worn, holes peering from the top. But the gang didn't care because they were shivering from all the mud and rain. Katie shook her fur fiercely, water getting on Sky's jacket.
"Rach your cat is getting..uh Rach?" Sky noticed Rachel's ears were covered by her hands.
"The rain is annoying, the pitter patter makes me want to scream." Rachel muttered sighing at the droplets falling from the rooftop.
"Please don't" Hiko commented not wanting his ears to hurt.
"But like I was saying before, the reason I called this meeting is because-" everyone's eyes widened at what he said, even Fro was shocked as well.
"My family is moving from Kalos, and I can't bring Fro or message anyone."
"Whaaaat!" everyone in the room exclaimed in shock at Hiko, even Fro was shocked.



"When did you find out? When are you moving?!" Fro spoke, his paws trembling in shock.
"I found out yesterday, and I'll be moving in about a few weeks," Hiko explained his head drooping.
"What will you do then?" Rachel asked knowing it was so long yet soon for Hiko to move.
"Well I was thinking-"
"Ahhh Ghosts!" yelled Moon running out a room. Bernie then hovered at the door and slashed with his stinger glowing.
"I will "Cut" this door!" Bernie yelled revealing what Moon was fleeing from. It was a shadow like creature, with two ear silhouettes.
"Viper can you identify what this is?" Bernie asked the Skorupi, apparently he knew the pokemon.
"It's a ghost! We usually don't go here because they like their privacy" Viper explained, the ghost had black goop dripping from it's mouth.
"Oh dear god it's like an amalgamate!" Moon exclaimed.
"Must you make an Undertale reference?" Hiko groaned.
"Y'all are chickens," Katie huffed, suddenly the ghost got really close, close to Katie's whiskers,
OOooooOOOOOHHHH! the ghost screeched.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" that made everyone run out of the door. Good thing Laverre city was nearby so everyone ran to the pokemon center wet and tired. Nurse joy then gave them the biggest room in the center.


"Thank god the city was nearby," Moon exclaimed plopping down on one of the beds.
"So what'cha gonna do Hiko my friend?" Jazz asked, her pink eyes staring at Hiko.
"I don't know.." he replied drooping his head down.
"You could travel with me until you move!" Rachel said giving a smile to Hiko and Fro, his Froakie smiled and hopped at the idea.
"Sure..." Hiko replied, then going to sleep.
"Well good night gang, let's not visit a haunted Mansion, and Rachel what will you do about the wild Skorupi?" Sky said staring at Viper and Rachel.
"I'd like to join the same team Bernie is," Viper replied, smiling at Rachel.
"Sure welcome to the team Viper!" Rachel exclaimed, catching the scorpion in a Net Ball.
"Let's hope there's not going to be a pillow fight in the morning," Katie muttered, lying on Rachel's shoulder.
"Aww be happy Katie, we got a new traveling pal," Rachel replied, petting Katie on the forehead. Katie just sighed and turned around.
"He's not the travelling pal I'd like," Katie sighed, before going to sleep.



Rachel and Katie woke up in the worst way possible.
"FAaaaLLLA LA! LALALALaaaa!" Hardy sung way off-key, the glass almost broke.
"For the love of god shut up!" screeched Katie slashing Hardy in the face.
"But my singing is awesome!" Hardy whined, his ears dropping.
"I know, but we gotta go, hey where is everyone?" Rachel asked noticing none of her friends were in the room.
"They went exploring, Hiko said he'd help you train until you're ready to take on Valerie, the Fairy Type gym leader.." Hardy spoke his eyes gazing to the gym.
"Oh yeah, we need Poison or Steel types, glad Bernie and Viper fit the category," Rachel exclaimed, taking out their pokeballs.
"So do you guys know any good moves?" Rachel asked her Poison bugs.
"I know a few good moves, but I could use a couple levels, Bernie's got Poison Jab and Venomshock, but some Fairy types are part Psychic, be careful," Viper explained, also warning of some other problems.
"Well I guess we're doing some training! Pack up some potions and let's hit the road Katie!"
