"Got the track ready, Katie?" Rachel asked her feline before entering the gym. Courage had decided to watch the event from his Pokeball (the latest feature from Unova).
"Yeah! Let's give this Ramos guy a taste for good music" Katie cheered as Rachel got out two of her pokemon. The gym felt odd with Seasong spamming her Ice type moves, as Rachel still keenly felt Aurora's absence. Courage came out of his Pokeball to advise Seasong in a fight against a Simisage, and the group was now approaching the leader.
"Are you prepared? I would like to see this 'musical reference,'"Courage asked Rachel.
"We're going to give that guy some real good references! I have two pokemon perfect for the job..." Rachel told him, rubbing her hands together mischievously. Courage noticed Ramos at the top of the gym. Rachel stopped the hand-rubbing and grabbed Tammy and Lily's pokeballs.
"So you're the challenger. Good luck, whippersnapper," the gym leader remarked, calling out his Jumpluff. Katie then dropped a music box from nowhere, gave Rachel a mic and sunglasses, and brought out a mic for herself."I just have one thing to say... hit it Katie!" Rachel said, pointing to the cat. Katie then hit a button. Tammy and Lily came out, as well as the rest of the leaders pokemon: a Weepinbell and Gogoat. Music blared through the speakers. Rachel was playing the karaoke version of"Can't Touch This" while singing hilariously off-key, Katie joining in as well.
"Wow, we can't touch this..." the Gogoat commented. Lily then Fire Fanged him and he ran around trying to put out the flames. Katie then put on sunglasses while Tammy and Lily wrecked the rest of Ramo's pokemon, who were then recalled. Ramos handed Courage the badge, whose jaw was still hanging wide open. Katie then turned the 4th wall.
"And haters gunna hate," Katie said, throwing the music box, mics, and sunglasses off screen. Lily caught one of them and put them on her forehead like a tourist at the beach.
"I'm keeping this for a new look," Lily declared before Rachel returned her to her pokeball."Well, we got a 'growing' routine!" Rachel joked as the team left the gym.
"Hey Rach, yo!" Rachel turned to see Jazz limping over to her. She noticed her leg was bandaged up like a cast.
"I never got to say thanks!" Jazz told Rachel, Katie tilted her head, curious.
"Thank me? Your leg's injured and it'll be hard for you to travel!" Rachel protested. Courage sighed and then Jazz explained.
"No, I mean you and your funky rad Lucario helped me last second! Plus, using two legs is, like, totally last season," Jazz reassured Rachel, who was still shifting her feet, "Anyway, I've gotta meet up with Hiko, laters dude!" Jazz then hopped right out. Courage put a reassuring paw on Rachel's shoulder.
"It is fine: what happened was an accident; however, you both learned from it. One of the most important parts of a journey is personal growth," Courage told Rachel. Katie's ears then perked up.
"Heeeey, Rachel!" Everyone turned to see Sky and a black pokemon with yellow rings on her body running up to them.
"This is my latest pokemon, Becky the Umbreon," Sky explained, pointing the to the Eeveelution.
"Wow, you must've been lucky to catch a wild Umbreon," Rachel complimented. Sky facepalmed.
"Umbreons aren't wild! I got this guy traded, goof," Sky told Rachel. Katie rolled her eyes.
"They are. It's scientifically proven, even. You just need a Catcher's License to catch certain pokemon like Umbreon! And a Catcher's License gets rid of the catch rate per route, or limits options." Katie explained. Sky let out a small 'oh' of realization.
