"Yeah, this is Madelyn," Manic spoke into her phone, glancing at Parker DeSantos questioningly as he started to make various motions.
"Madelyn, hi, this is Betty. Jughead's-"
"Girlfriend, yeah I know."
"Great, well, I'm calling because it's Jughead's birthday tomorrow and I was wondering if you would come and see a movie with us, maybe go out to eat after?"
"Does Jughead know you're calling me?" Manic asked, having to stop herself from laughing when Parker plopped down on the couch, and in result on top of her.
"No, I thought maybe I'd surprise him."
"Oh, man," Manic chuckled, "the only thing Juggie hates more than our birthday, is surprises. Have fun fucking tomorrow up, but I'm good. I have plans already, anyways."
And with that, Manic abruptly hung up on her brother's girlfriend, leaving the blonde girl on the other end of the line in shock.
Parker laughed obnoxiously loud at this, Madelyn looking at him with a playful scowl.
"Shut up," she muttered laughing, throwing her head back as she stretched.
Parker sat up and got off of his friend, waiting for her to sit up before sitting down next to her.
"So, uh, how is she?" Peter asked timidly, something that Manic found quite odd for the six foot something man.
She looked him in the eyes and spoke slowly, not sure just how much to reveal about her friend.
"She's...okay. Polly and the baby are both fine, Park, I swear."
Parker nodded absentmindedly, lost in his thoughts, and laid his head back onto the couch, pulling Manic into his side and letting her rest her head on his shoulder.
"You're like my sister, you know that right? And I trust you more than almost anyone else, so I trust you to tell me the truth. Does anyone know I'm the father?"
Manic's heart dropped to her stomach, a sad smile gracing her lips.
"No...she's scared, Parker. Really scared."
"Oh," Parker whispered, his disappointment clear.
All was quite between the two, a sad silence falling between them, until Manic hopped up from the couch. She grabbed onto Parker's hands and tried to drag the boy up, but due to the fact that she was almost comically smaller than him, she failed.
Parker smiled at his friend's antics and stood up, letting her drag him outside and over to where her car and his motorcycle were parked.
"Where are we going?" Parker yelled once he had gotten onto his motorcycle and Madelyn had gotten into her impala.
Madelyn smirked at him, "to get drunk, it's tradition, Park. Don't tell me you suffer from memory loss too?"
Parker laughed wildly, following his redheaded friend as she sped off towards Whyte Wyrm.Hours later, long after when the two friends first arrived at the bar, Parker and Madelyn were found slightly high and a little more than slightly drunk seated at a booth in Whyte Wyrm.
The two were sat next to each other and laughing loudly when a serpent-in-training came over to them.
Madelyn stopped her laughing immediately and turned to face the tall boy, a smug grin on her face when she recognized the bruised teen. She stood up and practically leapt into his arms, hugging onto him while turning to a drunk Parker.
"Parky!" She sais loudly, laughing once more, "this is the guy I was telling you about!"
When Parker just stared at her, she rolled her eyes and dramatically fell back into the unsuspecting teen, a groan falling from her lips.
"You know, the one that I punched?" She asked again, releasing the dark haired boy and stumbling into the table before using it to hold herself up properly. Parker's face lit up with recognition and he lazily laughed, both of the intoxicated teens ignoring the newcomer as they continued talking.
"Oh, Yeah! Joaquin told me about that, said it was fucking hilarious," Parker then turned to the recruit, "how stupid are you, by the way? Because only an idiot would try and challenge Serpent royalty, especially in their own territory."
The unnamed teen just awkwardly chuckled.
"I'm guessing pretty stupid."
Parker gasped, nudging his friend before attempting to whisper a scolding.
"Shhh! That's not nice, Mada!"Madelyn gave Parker a look before mouthing the nickname 'Mada' to herself, wondering where the hell Parker had come up with that.
The teen just laughed at the drunk girls insult, shaking his head slightly.
"It's-uh, it's fine. Should have known better to mess with a girl like her, especially here."
Parker laughed loudly at this, throwing his head back as he cracked up, while Manic glowered at the teen from over her shoulder, confusing him.
"What?" He questioned, not knowing what he had done wrong, and not wanting to add another bruise to his pretty little face.
"What the hell does 'a girl like her' mean? Huh?" Manic asked, obviously offended by the unintentional insult. Parker watched in amusement as his friend stood to her full height of five-foot-seven, a whole four inches taller with her heels than her actual five-foot-three, and still managed to intimidate the six-foot-something boy.
The unnamed teen backed up as the Serpent princess came forward, just barely stumbling in her heels, his hands up as if to say 'nothing, nothing'.
"I just, you seem like a girl that would punch someone in the face for looking at you the wrong way," he said, trying to cover his ass.
"Sure," the redhead hissed sarcastically.
"Seriously, I didn't mean anything bad about it, babe. If anything it's actually really attractive, so-"
"Excuse me." FP's voice boomed, startling the unofficial Serpent.
Parker immediately tried to straighten up and appear to be more sober than he actually was, while Manic smiled wickedly at the teen she still didn't know the name of.
"Sweet Pea, I think it's time you made your way back to your friends. Don't you think?"
The now named Serpent gulped quietly, nodding his head once before striding away from the group and rejoining his friends at the pool table.
Manic watched the teen, Sweet Pea, with hidden interest."We were just having a little chat, dad. You didn't need to go all father bear on him," she said, rolling her eyes when FP just shook his head and went back up to his office.
The next morning Manic's phone rang before the sun had even come up.
"Hello?" The redhead mumbled into the phone, shoving herself up from her bed at the Blossom manor and grimacing at the clock when she saw the time.
It was 5:30, which meant she should still be sleeping.
"Hey, it's Betty. Again," Manic audibly groaned, but the preppy blonde on the other end of the line took no heed to the redheads annoyance, "I'm sorry to bother you again, and so early too, but I've been up all night mulling over our conversation yesterday and I was wondering if by any chance you had changed your mind?"
"Yeah, no. I'm not coming to some lame party that my brother isn't even going to like, especially when that means I'll have to cancel my plans."
"Maybe you could just stop by then, just for a few minutes? I know Jughead probably doesn't show it, but he really misses you and I'm sure it will make his birthday even better if you're there. Even if just for a moment."
"I don't know," Manic mumbled flopping onto her back as she mulled over the idea.
She really did want to see her twin on their birthday, but would seeing all of his weird friends really be worth it?
"Please, just think about it," the Cooper girl pleaded.
"Ugh, I'm gonna regret this," Madelyn groaned, "I'll see."Just a cute lil chapter
